Worst Hotel Stay

My husband and I went to the Melia for a short getaway vacation. We have stayed at numerous all inclusive resorts before-and were quite surprised at how awful the Melia was. The staff was very unfriendly and not willing to help or go out of their way to assist you. Everything was unusually slow including check in. No one seemed in a rush to work or help you. When we got to our room it had not even been cleaned and the lock was broken. We were switched to a different room which was quite far from everything. Our original room was centrally located. Our room had this musky smell to it and was very outdated. While my husband was showering the metal soap dish fell off the wall and on his foot. It cut his foot and we told the hotel staff and nothing was done nor was it fixed. As for the food-the food was awful. It was pretty much not even ediable. We ate at the Italian restaurant. I ordered pasta and it was barley cooked. My husband ordered the skirt steak and it was ver fatty. Neither of us finished our meals. The Mexican restaurant was ok. The market place was not good either. There were flies on the food and nothing was ever hot. As for the liquor, the mixed drinks were even awful tasting. And you had to drink quite a lot to even get buzzed. Again to get a drink took forever. The resort was also only about 50 full when we were there so it was quite empty. No one just seemed to want to help anyone. We actually heard one worker complaining she doesn't get paid enough to work this hard and wasn't going to. Unprofessional. The overly cleaninness of the hotel left a lot to be desired. There was always garbage on the floor/ground. Everything was very outdated and need cleaning and updating. The resort looks NOTHING like it did on their website pictures. The ONLY good thing about this resort was the beach! Thank god for the beach! The water was gorgeous! Everything else was left to be desired! There is also no wait staff on the beach like their website claims. So the walk to the bar from the beach was quite the haul. Also a few of the restrooms were out of order. This left for some crowded bathrooms and dirtiness. My husband and I both said we would never stay here again. We are very disappointed with our stay at the Melia.

Awesome trip for 2

We stayed at Melia for 4 nights and 5 days from Tues-Sat. We had the all inclusive package and we loved it. They have the perfect Beach location. The water was warm and clear. The Beach area was also very clean. We didnt have a hard time looking for beach chairs however it was very hard to get a shaded area since its always taken. People would put towels on chairs to let people know its taken. There was a very nice lady that comes around the Beach to ask for your drinks. She was very nice. Sometimes there are people that will ask you to buy things but it didnt bother us. I'm dissapointed that the water activities rental place closes at 3:30pm. I wished they were open later and there were more beach umbrellas. The restaurants were okay..we loved the food at Nikkei and Estavida. The market place has very good breakfast and it overflows to Aqua restaurant. I wouldnt eat in the marketplace for lunch or dinner. During the afternoon, there are people serving food near the pool and those were pretty good food i think. The pool looks good. I never had tried it since the beach was gorgeous. They serve better alcoholic mixed drinks by the inside bar..the wet bar serve very heavy alcohol but im not complaining. Everyone seems very polite and warm. The servers in the restaurants were so nice. Even the people vacationing will stop and chit chat with you. The only downside is that our bathroom in the room is wheelchair accesible and we didnt really need that. The water will run off the middle of the bathroom whenever we go take a shower. The vent also doesnt work inside the bathroom. It did had some kind of smell inside. I wish they sprayed something in there before guests arrive. It is a long walk to the elevator from our room but its okay. For the amount of food they give you in this place, i wouldnt mind the extra steps. At night, they have performances/ dance shows outside and inside lobby. That was pretty cool and if you get hungry late night, they have a late night snack as well. Its also about $20 faire ride to Atlantis for Taxi and only $1.25 for a bus ride to straw market or fish fry (bdw food is expensive here). All in all, i would go back to Melia but hopefully get a better bathroom and bring more people with me.

Babymoon

My husband and I stayed here for our babymoon. The hotel was very nice overall. We enjoyed Nikkei Restauraunt the most compared to the other available restaurants included in the all inclusive plans. We upgraded to Level which was nice for the higher floors, sectioned off beach for level patrons, and exclusive level check-in/out. My complaints would be the lack of variety in food in the level lounge and the slow service on the beach. Our room beverages and snacks were not fully stocked upon our arrival either for level upgrade. Overall, clean hotel and great location on the beach.

Happy for just 3 days planned

The service wasn't friendly, the most time we wait until 30 min if we ask them to get a service...the dinner was cold. The hotel room was ok... It wasn't clean the phone for the room service was not working. And and and... We will never book this hotel for good.
