Beautiful Location

The Melia in Nassau, Bahamas is very pretty. The staff couldn't have been nicer. I paid for "The Level" room, which promised in the booking verbage, to include bathrobes for us. The desk clerk said that we would not be getting robes. That actually was the only reason I reserved the upgraded "Level" room, so I was very dissapointed by that. I had also upgraded to include breakfast each day. I was told that it would not be included. I showed the clerk my Itinerary copy, which did include the breakfasts, and she made a copy of it. As I said earlier, the people could not have been nicer, perhaps there was a breakdown in communication with the computer systems. The hotel is going through renovations, so when we were in our room during the day, there were very loud construction noises from right beneath our room.

What a relief!

After reading reviews I was a little worried. I was very relieved. I'm not sure what the people that complain expect but everyone I came in contact with with were extremely nice. The hotel was really pretty nice , they are doing renovations to make it even better. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Did not sleep well

Everything surrounding your room is great. Great location, pools were awesome, nice staff, loved the beach. But the rooms needs a lot of help. My bed had a huge hole in the middle and after 2 nights with back pain I asked for pillows to put under my mattress which helped a lot. I wish rooms were better insulated because you hear everything from the other rooms.... A good sleep really helps you enjoy your vacation :)

Best Beach in Nassau

I had a great time at the Melia. The hotel seemed updated and fresh. The amenities were good, although I think refrigerators in the room should be supplied w/o extra cost. Access to the beach was good from the 1st Floor, and the restaurant buffet was great. Service at the front desk was a bit slow, but I was on vacation so what's the rush. Overall, I had a wonderful time and will be back next year.

3 Moms and 3 Children Vacation

The resort was beautiful and our view from our balconies were gorgeous. The restaurants were good, but pricey. The pools and the beach were great and the ocean is breathtaking!!! Kayaking was fun and including with the resort. I would definitely return with or without children. The location is perfect. A Straw Market is directly across the street, but the big one is downtown and you all need to do to get there is take the #10 bus. $1.25 for adults and $.75 for kids each way. A short bus ride that takes about 10 - 15 mins. Which is a safe and scenic route. During our 5 days there; the staff was friendly and the other guests were nice too!!

Awesome Family Trip!!!

The pools and Cable beach are clean and wonderful. The food is excellent and moderately priced compared to Paradise Island. The rooms are modern and may need to replace the carpet in a few rooms. The hotel is located in prime spot with bus travel to Fish Fry, Downtown and Paradise Island. It is one of the better hotels in Nassau. We really enjoyed our stay and will return in the future. There is free Wifi in the lobby and west wing of the resort. Happy Travels!

Great Pool, Expensive Food

We went to the resort in late August 2014 and the hotel is just finishing up with renovations. Overall it's a nice hotel, if you are not too concerned about details. There might be a bit paint missing here, some funky patch up work done there, but nothing too disturbing. We got a great deal on the room probably because the hotel wasn't completely finished with renovations yet, but I'm sure prices are about to rise. If you are not used to the Bahamian food prices, prepare yourself for a sticker shock. There's a Starbucks in the hotel and it cost over $25 for two breakfast sandwiches and two tall drinks! A meal at the resort runs $20+ per plate. There wasn't too many local restaurants or shops nearby, but if you like Thai food I highly recommend the Thai restaurant next door. Food was delicious! Other than that, you had to take a cab or a bus to town if you wanted to eat outside the resort. The bus (number 10) is a great deal at $1.25/person, but stops running at around 7pm. Taxi is about $20 to and from town. They are building a huge resort with a water park right next door, which is supposedly going to be bigger and better than the Atlantis. That will hopefully bring some more local businesses and food choices to the area. The pool at this resort was great. We didn't have the time, or need, to even explore all the pools, but there is something for everyone. There are at least two jacuzzis and two waterfall pool grottos. It was nice and quiet when we were there, but that is probably because school was about to start and August seems off season for them. The pool area opens directly to the beach and the beach is also very inviting. Be wary of the overpriced drinks at the pool and beach, though, they are very watered down. There is a liquor store downstairs if you prefer to mix your own drinks...

A bit disappointed

The price was good, and the beach was convenient. It appears they are in the process of a much needed makeover. The air conditioner was not working in the room, or some of the common areas. The housekeepers came to the room, but failed to leave fresh towels on two of the four days of my stay. Food on the property was mediocre at best.
