Blue Water Resort on Cable Beach Rooms
At the Blue Water Resort on Cable Beach there is a choice of villas on offer, which boil down to variations on a theme of three-bedroom garden and ocean villas. These have views across the gardens and the ocean respectively, but all have the same amenities. There is an en suite private bathroom in each villa, with a hair-dryer and standard amenities. The master bedroom in each villa has a king bed and there are also two guest rooms that each contains two beds. The beds in the guest rooms can be converted on request into two larger beds, and rollaway beds are also available if requested. There are three bathrooms in each villa, and the bedrooms and bathrooms are situated on the second of the three floors. They have private balconies with great views of the gardens or ocean. The morning sunlight reflected off the ocean comes in through the large sliding windows and sets the tone for the day. It enhances the appearance of the chic modern furnishings and the soft pastel colors on the bedroom walls.

Spacious Value Accommodations
Condo sized, three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, full kitchen... you can't find more space for the money. I'm told these are former timeshare condos, and some elements are showing wear, especially windows and doors on the ocean side, which are hard to open and lock. But the layout is good, if you don't mind a lot of narrow stairs, and it's great to be able to spread out, especially if you're traveling with a family. The 2nd floor master suite is especially spacious. The view is impressive, but the room doesn't have a balcony, which is on the top level. The walk-in shower was a real pleasure. If you're going to use the coffee maker, bring your own filters (ours took a regular filter, flat-bottomed, which the local store did not carry), and be prepared to buy jugs of water at the grocery store (three blocks west) -- the tap water is foul. I especially appreciated the small safe in an upstairs closet, which provided a secure place for passports and wallets. The complex has a computer with Internet access available 7am-10pm. Our unit had a washer and dryer on the back patio, which was great for drying bathing suits in the rather humid climate. The hotel beach is small, but pleasant. The walk up and down is doable, for about half a mile either way, if you don't mind wading around jetty walls a bit. The view of little Balmoral Island across the water is a nice bonus. The pool is great and long enough for real swimming. The bar by the pool is convenient, but I preferred walking east to the Sheraton beach bar for an afternoon rum drink or local beer (pronounced kah-LICK). In general, drinks in the area seem fairly reasonable, but food is way overpriced. The only nearby restaurant on the water we found is about 5 miles west at the Compass Point resort, a funky, fun place with good food, a great view, and parking across the street. Otherwise, the neighborhood lacks much charm, and there's not a huge amount within walking distance. I would recommend the restaurant Indigo two blocks west. The Swiss bakery, hidden in a nondescript shopping center almost across the street, is about the only source for breakfast baked goods around, and the best bargain I found. If you rent a car, be prepared for a harrowing driving experience, with narrow roads, brisk traffic, and aggressive drivers (which you will become, by the end, out of sheer defensiveness). Driving on the left wasn't too disorienting, especially as the wheel of my rental was on the left, like I'm used to. But I would recommend having a navigator to remind you which way to turn out of the parking lot (a caution reinforced by the front-end collision we encountered down the road). Maps are helpful, but roads are as poorly marked as they are maintained. On the other hand, it's not a big place, so you can't go too far wrong. I would avoid driving into Nassau if you can, or pretty much the whole area south of town. There is a good free public parking lot at the east end of the Fish Fry at Arawak Cay from which the walk into town is not too bad. I didn't try the bus, but there is a stop right at the entrance to the hotel.

Short drive from hotel
The restaurant at the Compass Point Resort, about five miles west, is fun and funky, in a beautiful setting, with a great staff, good food, and lively atmosphere. It seems to attract locals as well as tourists.

almost ruined vacation to paradise
Horrendous experience! The late evening arrival involved entering a dark Condo without any lights. Had to search in the dark for the circuit breaker to then figure out which switch went to what. The dated furniture is a minus, however the old scent that the property has been vacant made it worst. The rooms were not set up as requested and a lizard was found in the main bedroom under the covers. Lastly, yet most important there was mold on the walls in the top room. We were in this room for 20 mins before the decision was made that these conditions were UNACCEPTABLE !! Thankfully, we found vacancy down at another hotel. We refused to spend one night in this place!!

Simply a BLAST for everyone!
The condo was very nice and included everything you need. (Fully equipped kitchen, washer/dryer, hair dryer, grill, etc.) It is a great place for a family needing 3 bedrooms and 2.5 baths. Plenty of room for 6 people. I will go back to Blue Water Resort!

Blue Water Resort Nassau Bahamas
Great for a group, could sleep 6 easily. Had washer/dryer right in room, close to grocery store is great because food and drinks are expensive in bahamas, refrig and stove in room and dishwasher, nice patio, nice tennis court, super friendly bar--go to karaoke, #10 bus comes every two minutes or so to downtown and back so great location. It is a tiny bit run down (blinds didn't pull that type of stuff) but they try hard and everything that needed fixing they came and fixed. Staff is nice.
