Good Marketing: Doesn't Deliver
Just returned from our honeymoon at Sandals Emerald Bay. This was our second experience with a Sandals and it will be our last! The property is absolutely beautiful and well maintained, but unfortunately that is all it has to offer. The whole experience felt like a cruise without the excursions. The check-in process made us feel like herded cattle, and took 30-40 minutes regardless of the fact that we went through the trouble of checking in online to avoid the hassle. We booked a penthouse villa that came with a butler, only to find out that we shared the butler with countless other guests. Our butler was extremely hard-working and personable, but could not seem to provide less than a 40 minute wait on any request. Our room was far inferior to what was shown online, with worn, unmatched furniture. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were nice, but that was the extent of the "pent house" luxury. The bathroom was decent and clean, comparable to most hotels. We enjoyed the quiet pool for the first couple of days. It wasn't really that quite since part of the hotel is under construction. The floats they had were old and turned our skin blue. The beach was very nice and quiet, and very beautiful, but this part of the island is so windy that watersports was closed throughout our entire trip. This meant no sailing or snorkeling which is why we came to the Exumas. There are three restaurants, a pub and a pizza place. Breakfast buffet was above average and the pub food was good, but the other places masquerading as "fine dining" were a joke. Food service was consistently slow, wait staff was inexperienced, and food quality low. Staff use noisy oversized gas powered carts on the same paths guests use. Very annoying. The highlight of our trip was leaving the grounds and spending the $100 to go to George Town. Don't come to this resort if you want to experience the Exumas because once you're on property you're secluded from the rest of the island and could realistically be anywhere. This place was a big disappointment in a lot of small ways. It does not have a 5 star feel. The "luxury" feels forged and mass-produced. Feels more like a theme park than a luxury resort.

Great Experience
I have not been much of a beach person as I mostly like to take vacations to ski resorts, but this resort made me realize what I have been missing for the past 6 or 7 years. One of the best places I have ever been. The rooms were clean, could have been dusted a little better, but otherwise very clean. The staff was always friendly and helpful, if they don't know something they will find out right away. Butlers were great. The food was always good, and sometimes excellent. Entertainment staff always had something fun going on. Would definately go back and recommend to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation.

Pizza at Dyno's is great as well as the wings at the drunkin duck. Menu items are the same daily, but quality varies day to day for the same meal. Oh yeah, the icecream at the Italian restaurant is the best.

Stolen Money & Horrible Customer Service
We recently visited Sandals Emerald Bay for our honeymoon. On our last day, hundreds of dollars were stolen from my wife's purse while she was showering at the Red Lane Spa. Unfortunately since reporting this to them, Sandals Emerald Bay employees have lied to us, been very passive aggressive in both emails and on the phone, been unresponsive, and generally treated us like they could not care less about us. Bad way to end a honeymoon. The full story is at bit.lySandalsSucks
