Great Value for the Money
Except for the fact when I was contacting the hotel the night before to let them know we would be delayed due to a cancelled flight from Miami, the hotel was telling me they had no reservation for a package deal that had been made in March and they had it in April when I had a question about something and called the hotel. Once we got there we did have a great time. Nice relaxing, alot of snorkling, kayaking and sailing done. The staff was very nice and alot of fun. The beach is beautiful.

Relaxing!
We had an awesome time! The staff was great especially the animation staff! They were so friendly and included us in everything (granted thats what they are supposed to do) but they even hung out with us when they weren't working! So much fun. A couple of things to complain about though.....check in was a nightmare. We arrived at hotel at 12 pm and checkin wasnt until 3 so we hung out on the beach and came back at 3 and our room still wasnt ready!! We had to wait a few more hours and when we got to our room.....It had not been cleaned still from the prior inhabitants!! We always needed towels and were very upset because of that!

Money-saving tip:
Short drive from hotel
If you want to go to the market Port Lucaya rent a scooter from the hotel and drive down there. Its only about 10 miles but it gets expensive going back and forth to market and that is where the ATM is!! It is $15 each way to market and back!

Solid 3-Star Resort
This is a great deal, especially if booked through Orbitz. Flight and all-inclusive hotel for 4 nights for $600 can't be beat. Resort is great, as long as you're not expecting something super-luxurious, as this is most definitely a 3-star resort. Pros: - For a buffet, food was actually pretty good. - The two restaurants on site are good, but the italian one is better - Staff is quick to respond to issues (e.g. missing towels, flooded restaurant) - Secluded location, very peaceful Cons: - We rented a car for an afternoon, but outside of the resort not much to do - Taxis are a bit of a scam, you can't leave the resort without one. For two people, from airport to hotel (10 minute drive) it costs $25 (without tip). From the hotel to "marketplace" it costs $15. - Hard to swim in ocean because there are tons of sharp, jagged rocks on the sand under the water, very difficult to walk into the ocean. - Could use a few upgrades, e.g. signs are worn down, paint flaking off, etc.

Sightseeing tip:
Not Applicable
- Make sure to get in Building B (even if it's not an oceanfront room) - When facing the ocean, walk to the left, there's a much better beach a few yards down, with no stones in the surf.

Not Good!
First, they did not have 1 of our 2 reservations at check-in. They mean 3pm when they say it. It rained the entire 8 days we were there and there was absoluteloy nothing to do! It is very windy!!!! The front desk staff are useless. The food sucked, it was the same thing every day, except for Wednesday, which was Mexican. The hotel shows and other activities are very amateur. The grounds are not kept up, dead grass, etc. The Italian restaurant was good, the Asian was okay, make sure you make reservations the day you arrive, otherwise, you will not get in. We arrived on a Saturday and all excursions were booked until the following Friday! The cab rides are a rip off, your better off renting a car (rip off as well). There is nothing to do at night unless you go into Port Lucaya. If you are going and staying in Freeport, I strongly recommend staying at the Westin or Sheraton, they are in Port Lucaya and are very beautiful and will save you expensive cab rides. We will not be going back to the Bahamas. We were supposed to go to Mexico, and due to the Swine flu, we had to reschedule-this was the case of at least 75% of the people there and we all shared the same opinion. I almost would have rathered go to Mexico and take my chances!! We read all of the reviews before going and decided to go with open minds-but believe me-the reviews speak the truth. They could really make this resort beautiful, but I think that they just dont care.

The food at the hotel pretty much sucked, but there are some good restaurants at Port Lucaya, which is a short cab ride. Agave and Cappucino's were very good.

Good family experience
We had a very good time. Staff was very friendly and encouraged participation, but not pushy. Enjoyed all inclusive idea, as traveled with young adult children. They were able to stay out later and no worries. I went scuba diving and found the staff knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Would return again.

Great time
The native Bahamians who work at the hotel were awesome! Especially KJ and Dr. Dre :) Part of the entertainment crew who are not "regulars" were pretty rude, but the natives made it a great stay/time. Went on the catamaran trip to Petersons Cay...fantastic! Port Lucaya for shopping, lunch, and "VOODOO/Pirate Punch" is awesome. We had a great time!!
