Island Seas Resort

Although I enjoyed my trip, I had some serious issues with this resort. Probably more than I'm willing to type. I've enjoyed many all-inclusive vacations and this was the first that I had any issue with. The property seems to be involved with some sort of time share because you are constantly being hounded to join a presentation. I even received an early phone call my first morning asking me to pick up my welcome package which was basically them trying to setup a time for me to join a presentation. The resort basically shut down at 9:30pm. No food, no bar... and with rooms across the street you are pretty much stuck going back to your room. All-Inclusive members could not take any food "to go" because they fear you'd share your food with the non-all-inclusive members. The food itself was very heavy with no healthy options. The bar staff was overwhlemed and getting a drink was a 10-15 minute process. Also, you can only order select items. A long island iced tea, for example, is only available to non-all-inclusive guests. The beach was nice, but had uncomfortable chairs to lay out in. The locals would also constantly approach you to purchase something which is far from relaxing.

Very nice resort, beautiful beach. We couldn't use the pool as it wasn't heated and the water was very cold. No children would even go in it. They need tables and umbrellas around the pool and some piped in music would have been great. The mattresses and pillows need to be replaced, very lumpy. We enjoyed both restaurants. We asked for the TV remote but never received one. Also, they charge a $30 daily surcharge tax besides the room cost and taxes which we didn't know about.

The staff is unfriendly and trying to overcharge you for every single thing. First, what ever request we made at the reception it was never carried out after the person at the reception promised us to take care of it. Second, they tried to charge us for keeping our luggage in a special room on the day of check out. Later we found out that it was bellboy's decision how much he will be asking for keeping the bags, even though the service was officially free. The most upsetting was when (before check-in!) they lured us into a free breakfast the next morning with an explanation that we will be presented various activities that we can do during our stay. The next morning, we found out that it wasn't about activities at all, rather a marketing presentation of the Carlson Group of Companies of timesharing development, of which they are member of. We wouldn't mind the presentation so much if we weren't literally attacked and over-and-over pushed to make a financial decision like that in that very movement. If people make these kinds of decisions on a whim they will most likely regret it in the future. But that was not the hotel's worry; they just wanted a signature after a two-hour presentation. Further, when we told them that we need some time to think over the offer they became very unfriendly and, also, refused to give us the gifts that were promised to us when we signed in for the presentation a day before, like t-shirts and two bottles of rum. We were in a shock for the rest of our stay at the hotel. On top of it, it was obvious that the entire staff became very rude to us after that morning. We will never go back and we will definitely tell all over friends not do make our mistake.

Beach and pool nice. College Spring break group. We had fun. Good rooms, though our socks were black from the floor not being mopped but the room was clean besides that. Waited a long time to get extra towels. Staff at desk was very helpful with recommending restaurants, free shuttle was good. Beach was clean. We had read comments about glass etc but it was fine. We rode the discovery cruise over and back. It was good value for the price.

Our stay at Island Seas was very pleasant. The resort is right on the beach (our room was across the street) and the view is beautiful from the main courtyard and pool area. Staff was friendly and helpful. The kitchen was fully equipped and we ate in almost everyday. The resort provides a free shuttle service to Port Lucaya throughout the day until about 6pm and we took a bus from there to other places on the island. They also have free wifi service around the pool area, which we used to make calls and check in back home. Overall, highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxing low-key experience.

Very good location, right on the beach. We had views of the ocean from the front balcony & the back balcony. The service was great. The room was cleaned every day, bed made, bathroom clean, clean sheets, towels. Even dishes done sometimes. The staff were all very willing to please. Everything for the kitchen was provided (dish washing soap, dishwasher soap), soaps, etc. provided daily for the bath. Concierge was very helpful. Tour booking was easy.We loved the snorkeling at Paradise Cove. The snorkeling on the Catamaran with [...] was bad, the sea was way too rough & the reefs were mostly dead. Paradise Cove had large beautiful coral & extremely beautiful fish. Kayaking there was fun, also. We hired a bell hop to take us on an island tour, he did great showing, us things we would not see on a tour bus. He helped us find conch shells & cleaned them for us. I would not recommend the tour bus. We rented a car & explored on our own. It was great. We found our own private beach & were able to go there several times.Shopping a Lucayan Market is great, the people are so nice & good prices for good products. Free shuttle to & from the Lucayan Market was great.All in all it was a fun time, I recommend it.
