excellent staff, great location

The staff's friendliness and helpfulness went above and beyond. From letting us check in early, to booking us on a tour to Budapest, to letting us store our luggage after we checked out, and even calling is a cab five hours later. Top notch and within easy walking distance to the best sights in Vienna. I would stay there again.

Great Location, Kitchenette

This hotel is in a great location for visiting museums. It is close to some good restaurants, but is not in the heart of the shopping district. As we were in Vienna during a serious hot spell, we really appreciated the air conditioning. We made use of the kitchenette. A set of cookware was provided on request. The rooms came with dishes for continental breakfast and coffee. We are a family of 4, with 2 college-age children. We took a suite (two rooms) and another room, nearby, with a kitchenette. There are also regular rooms without kitchenettes, but in a farther section of the building. The rooms were clean, with nice beds, well-appointed. Wireless internet worked fine. The staff spoke good English and some French.

Great City Break

We knew that location was the key to a more enjoyable place of stay, Rather than poshness and luxury from other more expensive hotels in the area. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the staff were very helpful and friendly, and good communication. Would go back again :)

Overbooked?? At a hotel?

This was a first. We dropped our bags off because the room was not ready. No problem. When we came back around 3:30 we were told that they had overbooked the hotel and were shifting us to the other Mercure "a mere 10 - 15 minutes away" by taxi! I had pre-booked this hotel weeks in advance because of the location next to the Secession Building that I have been trying to get to for 30 years. This location is an easy walk to Opera were we had booked multiple tours and events based on it being only two blocks away. New hotel was almost 1km away. To say that I was unhappy was an understatement. This effectively ruined our time in Vienna and was a huge inconvenience. Staff at neither hotel offered any kind of compensation or explanation. In fact, the manager at the Mercure Joseph Hoffman said it was not their issue, that the Mercure brand is not a chain but a franchise so it was irrational for me to be upset at them and that it was ridiculous that I was upset since it was not really that much further away. So... a huge inconvenience and trampling on my hopes for a good stay and then to boot I was made to feel like I was ridiculous or somehow at fault Mercure Hotels clearly does not understand the basics of being in the hospitality industry. They were the complete opposite.

Great apartment hotel, great location.

On a super-hot day in August, we were thrilled to move in to an air-conditioned hotel. The rooms had kitchenettes, which we made good use of. A request to housekeeping, and a box of kitchen items (pots, pans, dishes, dishtowel, etc.) arrived. The room came equipped with coffee/tea. The location was terrific for our short trip. Easy to walk to the museum area, shopping, dinners out, etc. Staff was helpful. Front desk staff had good command of English and sometimes of French. Rooms were clean comfortable, etc. Only downside was that we could not get two rooms close by, as the apartment suites are in a different building from the regular rooms.
