A good central hotel for the Carlton
A good central hotel for the Carlton district however it is located within very easy access to the city centre either by walking or taxi, bus etc. The bar got a bit noisy to be in at around sixish but not audible in the rooms , a good place for a evening drink and a chat before dinner, better place to stay as opposed to some of the inner city hotels. Has a great pool area as well, car parking available at $18.00 per nite extra.

Stay regularly, small hotel in an excellent spot. Carpark underneath at no extra cost which makes coming and going a breeze. About 100 metres back from Lygon Street, a convenience store on the corner for supplies and Italian restaurants, gelati/icecream shops and Brunettis cake shop, possibly the best coffee/cake shop one could hope for. Highly recommend an early pasta or pizza, a movie, immerse yourself in the book shops then head for a late coffee & cake. All 5 mins walk from Travel Inn. Bus outside to hospitals. Tram a block away for city.Museum and playground/ park at end of the street.

Badly in need of an update. One
Badly in need of an update. One window was screwed shut because the frame has rotted. The windows do not seal there was a huge draught blowing the curtains into the room even with the window shut.

Great location, close to Lygon
Great location, close to Lygon St with heaps of restaurants and cafes. close walking to the CBD (10 mins). the room was fine however the doors and corridors are very noisy through the night when other guests come back to the hotel. OK though if you are one of them.

This hotel has an excellent location
This hotel has an excellent location within 500m from Lygon Street, in the throbbing heart of 'Little Italy'. The service is very good and the rooms are clean, large and comfortable. It is also within 15 - 20 min walking distance to Melbourne University, Parkville campus. I stayed at this hotel numerous times for both business and pleasure and I strongly recommend it. There is just one downside- the broadband provider they use provide crap service and internet speeds. IF they could just use another one!

For the interstate traveller this
For the interstate traveller this is a top location - walking distance or a short tram ride to most places in the inner city area, and close to the University of Melbourne and the vibrant (and a little eccentric) coffee, shopping and food scenes of Lygon and Brunswick Sts and the Queen Victoria Markets. The hotel is clean, great amenities including courtyard with swimming pool, staff are friendly and there is a bar and restaurant. I've stayed there several times on business trips to Melbourne.
