Rydges Melbourne is located in the heart of Melbourne's vibrant theatre district, on the door step of Chinatown and within walking distance to Melbourne Park’s sporting grounds, Collins Street boutiques and the famous Bourke Street Mall. Crystal chandeliers welcome visitors to the ornate lobby. Upstairs, rooms and suites are bathed in plush reds and purples, some even have soaking tubs. Location was good and room was a good size for 2 people although bathroom was a bit squashy, but very clean. Reasonable value for money given other hotels up that end of town. Staff were incredibly rude, but fortunately we only had to deal with them to check in and check out. Would recommend a stay but don't expect service with a smile...

I loved this hotel. Very central
I loved this hotel. Very central for shopping and shows, the room was beautiful and spacious and had everything we needed. I will be booking this hotel in the future. The staff were lovely and helpful too. A great place to stay and would highly reccommend to others.

Handy to all CBD facilities ,
Handy to all CBD facilities , loved the late check-out , Bar/Restaurant should be open a bit later of a Sat night , staff friendly , carpark was handy , room rate was very good for a hotel in the heart of Melbourne , we would stay again for sure !

Cleanliness was quite poor. There was left over food packaging from previous guests etc. Service was good, staff were helpful. I was disappointed that there was no cd player or dvd player in the room although there was a system to plug media into if you wanted to. Overall the hotel stay was neither amazing nor terrible but for your money there are probably better deals out there.

I was very happy with the facilities,
I was very happy with the facilities, location and cleanliness, however the service of your front house staff was poor. The receptionist, who is also a team leader, couldn't even tell us where to find a nice steak house in Melbourne! She gave us the wrong address, wrong name and pretended she knew what she was talking about! Later that evening, we spoke with another couple who had the experience with the blond team leader! On our last day, we went to hotel restaurant where we couldn't get attention of any of your staff as they were busy eating, drinking, talking and laughing! After waiting 20 minutes for them to serve us, I had to walk to them and ask them if we could place an order. Then, they FORGOT to bring what we ordered, and I had to go back and ask or it. So, yes I liked your hotel, but I would recommend you talk to your staff and find out if they are happy with their jobs. There is always room for improvement, and this is one area your hotel definitely needs it!

Carpet look very old and dirty,
Carpet look very old and dirty, Air condition very old and not clean..make me sick next day..furniture within the room very old doesnt feel I can relax in the room.. for what I expect from Rydges Hotel I very disappointed and if I have to pay a bit more than the price I get from club hotel and get better room, I prefer to pay more.

Excellent location with reasonable
Excellent location with reasonable price! Close to shops and restaurants. For those who like Chinese food, it is the best location as the Melbourne Chinatown is only next door. Will stay there again when visit Melbourne next time.

Friendly staff, good location. I would stay again, but not eat in the restaurant, very expensive with small portions, and they had run out of chicken and fish (it was early on a Sunday night) so was limited in what to order.
