Modern hotel just off Bourke Street Mall caters to budget travelers
Situated on Little Bourke Street, right next to of Melbourne's famous pedestrian malls, the Mercure Welcome Melbourne truly is in the middle of the action. This hotel was close to buses,
This hotel was close to buses, trams and was very convienient for all that Melbourne had to offer a visitor. The chamber maid was diligent in her chores and whenever we returned to our room we were always impressed.We would stay in this hotel again.

The location is excellent, but
The location is excellent, but this really is a very basic hotel that needs to be renovated. If you are not going to spend much time in the room, then it is fine for the rates offered. Bathroom was quite ordinary with an unpleasant drain smell and the towels had seen better days. Paint coming off the ceiling....you get the point! Stay if you want very easy access to the city, but don't expect anything above average.

Short walk from hotel
If you want to check out the city, go the The Edge skyscraper, you get a full 360 degree view from the 85th floor. If you go in the early evening, you can catch it during daylight time then watch the sunset for 1 price. St. Kilde is pretty nice too if you want to hit the beach, short train ride away.
