Just What We Needed
We were staying one night in Townsville on the way down the coast. We got in late, and the night manager was immediately available and got us checked in, in two minutes flat. Don't be fooled by the ugly exterior, the rooms are comfortable, recently updated, and look pretty classy. For the price, you'd be hard pressed to find something better.

Overnight stay

Good location, good accommodation,
Good location, good accommodation, clean comfortable, great breakfast service, rooms have been refurbished. Only 'complaint' is the shower doors don't seal so the bathmat ends up sodden. Recommended if you require a central location from which to do buisness.

Whilst i enjoyed my stay i couldnt
Whilst i enjoyed my stay i couldnt access the pool due to cyclone damage. Given the heat in March I did miss it

Excellent location and Great Value
I was staying at the Holiday Inn for a conference at the Jupiter's Conference Center, it was a bit of a walk in the morning. But there was always the option of taking a taxi or the "red bus" which runs routes from just out front of the Holiday Inn to either the ferry land and Jupiter's or to the Strand (the beach front areas). The bus was cheap and fairly convenient, make sure you have a copy of the schedule though, b/c the times are not very routine. There was some major construction underway while we were there... but it is going to be great when finished. There will be a pedestrian bridge out back of the the hotel to Palmer street (good restaurants), and the road out front will be all newly re-done with good shops. Down the street a little further (towards the strand) are all the night clubs and the Reef HQ aquarium and cultural museum (which is a good see). Also the hotel is right next to the city mall. The room was very clean and modern, service was great. The pool on the roof was a fun touch, though could use some re-modeling. There is a restaurant and bar downstairs, but I never had the opportunity to try them out.

Take the new pedestrian bridge over to Palmer Street, there are quite a few good choices there.

Good price for what you get. Rooms
Good price for what you get. Rooms refurbished and clean. Lovely modern feel with pillow choice, mini bar. In city central across from Cowboys Leagues Club and up from Cinemas. Problem is a lot of roadwork in Mall at moment but still worthwhile. Parking is extra. Lovely staff. Breakfast is worth a look because of variety but bacon is rubbery and broiled which spoils English Breakfast thing. All round good value for money.

Nice hotel in centre of town.
Nice hotel in centre of town. Unfortunately road works were being carried out and makes parking terrible. Beds are comfortable and the breakfast was nice. We went down for Father's Day so was more expensive as there was football on the night before as well. Overall all a nice experience and would recommend.
