At a time when there are great concerns about fragile environments, Thala proudly boasts that it has achieved the highest accreditation of eco certification through its sustainable practice and environmental sensitivity. At Thala, guests enjoy a rich experience where wildlife, native forests and natural beachscapes are protected. The natural history of Australia is unique. At Thala Beach Lodge, guests experience luxury sensitively designed to coexist with forests and abundant wildlife. It is a private sanctuary and employs wildlife specialists to enhance its guest's awareness of this astonishing environment. Deluxe timber bungalows are built high on stilts and nestle in the forest canopy providing a magical and unobtrusive relationship with the natural world. All bungalows have views either to the ocean or the forested mountains. Time spent relaxing on the timber decked verandahs is always well rewarded by sightings of birds, butterflies and at night - possums and sugar gliders. The views from the restaurant are panoramic, taking in the Far North Queensland coast from Double Island to Cape Tribulation, and the sparkling waters of the Great Barrier Reef and World Heritage forests that cover our coastal ranges. Guests dine among the birds in the surrounding treetops whilst enjoying world-class fine food with friendly five star service. Paths meander through rainforests and woodlands that provide healthy habitats for extraordinary birds, plants & animals, and connect with private sandy beaches. Delightful hours are spent discovering native flora & fauna, secluded coves and rock pools. All over the 145 acres of Thala Beach Lodge, guests find themselves in an unsurpassed enchanting, relaxing environment. More rustic than luxurious

Location is really lovely about twenty minutes outside of Port Douglas. Enjoyed my little bungalow - and there was a little lizard who greeted me, snuggled up in the bath tub. Views are beautiful and the property is very large. Be prepared to do a lot of walking unless you have a bungalow close to the main building. Restaurant was great!

A-MA-ZING!!

You can't beat the views, the service or sheer relaxation that comes with this hotel! The staff was very helpful and gave us some local information and insight that made our trip unforgettable. (Make sure to visit Thornton Beach along Cape Tribulation Road if you're headed to Daintree - it was recommended by one of the staff and was one of our favorite stops!!) There is a shuttle ($8/person each way) to Port Douglas for shopping, and complimentary valet if you have our own car. Most of the tour companies pick up from Thala as part of their packages, so make sure you visit the Great Barrier Reef and the quaint shops in Port Douglas! SO GLAD we paid a little more to stay here. It was romantic, relaxing and even BETTER than the pictures show!

Stunning locale!

This place is magical! Nestled in the trees so very near the coast of the Coral Sea, the Thala Beach Lodge is an oasis. The cabins are adorable (although most do not have views of the water) but the main lodge does enjoy the stunning coast and is a wonderful location to rest and recharge after enjoying time exploring the surrounding area. Thala Beach Lodge is "perfectly" situated near Port Douglas, but away enough to feel remote and surrounded by nature. Finally, the staff, the spectacular staff of wonderful people who are so willing to lend a hand or give a smile; the BEST. Thoroughly enjoyed are stay here. Cheers!
