Not A bad holiday

The property is in a great location Just walking distance from most anything you want in Cairns, The staff are great, food at sea level is pricey but good(Everything in Australia is pricey so they aren't out of line) . The rooms are a nice size but need a good clean and some TLC Would stay there again

why do they charge for internet?

This hotel was better than average. Location is excellent. Cleanliness and service are good. The food is too expensive. But the only thing I really minded was that there is no free internet!

Quick visit

Loved almost everything about this place. The ocean view was spectacular, bed comfortable, staff friendly and helpful. The room was well aired and quiet at all hours. The hotel was close to the restaurants and shopping- I am reasonably fit but over 60 years old- and I walked there comfortably. There seemed to be plenty of parking on the esplanade for guests with cars. The only criticisms I had was that the corridor to the rooms looked a bit shabby and I did not think the toilet in my room was quite clean when I arrived. I only had one meal at the hotel and it was not particularly good- fish too oily and salad very heavily dressed but the portions were generous and it was reasonably priced. The pool and grounds were lovely. I would love to visit again.

Convenient, Clean, Comfy

Great location right on Cairns Esplanade. Private balcony overlooking pool and ocean. Comfortable beds. Spacious & updated interior. Clean bathroom with TERRIFIC shower -- strong water pressure with very hot water and GREAT showerhead. Just what you need after days filled with tropical adventures. Super-helpful activities desk in lobby. Yummy fresh-catch barramundi in restaurant. All told, contrary to some of these other reviews, this is a GOOD hotel.

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Stroll down the Esplanade about 10 minutes and go to the Night Markets. There's a bunch of all-you-can-heap-on-a-plate restaurants. They're buffet-style -- with all kinds of yummy seafrood -- like shrimp & calamari -- mainly fried, but admit it...who doesn't like fish n chips?!? Anyway, cheap eats...plus cheap souvenirs in the nearby stalls, and it's all open til 11:00 PM...so even if you get back from diving all day and take a nap, you can wake up and STILL chow down & shop!

Central yet Quiet

Right on the Esplanade but 2 blocks from the Restaurants - so no noise issues. The Staff and Hotel Location was perfect. Only critique was that the Swimming pool/Spa was not heated. And the 20C temperature was brisk in Oz Winter. Would happily stay again.

Sightseeing tip: Not Applicable

Take the Frankland Island Day trip. 30 minutes Coach ride followed by 30 minute Mulgrave River Trip in mid sized catamaran. Plenty of huge salt water crocodiles on the banks - 3 meters at least! Then a 30 minute open water trip to Normanby Island for 4 hours of snorkeling with green turtles in pristine coral gardens. This trip covers it all for scenery, activities and lunch. Very easy transfer between boat for even older people and younger children.

Excellent Recharge Break

Arriving on an early morning flight from Darwin I was expecting to have to wait 4+ hours until check-in but the staff advised that my room was ready immediately - excellent start to my day. From there until the end of my 11 day stay the service was fantastic, the staff were always ready with advice and assistance. The staff at the tour desk were brilliant! Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would stay there again myself.
