Impressive Hotel
I am so glad we sprang for this higher priced hotel, all the more after I saw our cheaper alternatives once in Cairns. As for Sebel, the bathroom had a double sink and enormous counter space. This was so great to have when both getting ready to leave. The balcony had an amazing view of the boat dock with a pristine green mountain in the near background that the sun would just rise behind in the AM and would really be something out of a picture, we even filmed 20 minutes of this moment it was so special. The location is just perfect, and in fact, we considered staying at another hotel which was not so centrally located (it was near the hospital much further down the Esplanade) and we walked there and we were 100% confident that the daily walk from that hotel would NOT have been worth the reduced cost and would have significantly detracted from our experience with all the hub bub involved in going to and fro the room throughout the day. Having a room just nearby allowed us to grab extra cash, that forgotten item, and just stop in to relax for an hour without feeling like we were "going all the way back."

Sightseeing tip:
Short drive from hotel
Take the day trip to nearby Kuranda and go to the zoo there and hold a kuala bear. Most parks only let you pet these bears in their "encounters" and Kuranda is a rare place where you can hold them. The zoo admission is totally unreasonable, but this is a special opportunity. Skip out on the elaborate travel options there (train with a view, gondola ride with a view) because again, the price is completely ludicrous ($40 per adult EACH WAY) and one of the main things to do in Kuranda is just walk the nature trail(s), so really, you'll see all the rain forest you'll ever need to.

The ground floor lobby area is
The ground floor lobby area is lovely and we had a great reception from the concierge, who parked our car for us etc. The room was well-appointed but we were very disappointed with the "harbour view" we had paid for - it was barely more than a glimpse. If we had realised that having a harbour view also means that we would be directly opposite the casino and kept awake by the noise, we would have gone elsewhere. We were also a little disappointed with the check-out procedures. We gave the required 15 mins notice that we wanted the car out of the park and after 25 mins and several reminders we eventually got it back! The pool area was great!

We found the Sebel Cairns to be
We found the Sebel Cairns to be a wonderful hotel to stay at. The room was large and comfortable with nice views to the harbor. The staff were very friendly and provided excellent service throughout our 4 day stay. The hotels bar and restaurant was also worth a visit. Overall the homely comfortable stay was very enjoyable.

We found the Sebel to be a great
We found the Sebel to be a great place to stay. Although we arrived many hours before check in, we were still accomodated for an early check in. Pricing was great through [this website] for the outstanding room we were given. Pool area was fantastic. All staff were very friendly and helpful. We will be recommending the Sebel and have already done so. Thanks again for a great stay.

Location was great, clean, neat
Location was great, clean, neat and tidy. The only issue was that the Sebel is opposite the Cairns Casino and the noise from patrons who congregated on the footpath making a lot of noise where annoying, other than this I would recommend the hotel.
