Hotel overlooking Trinity Inlet and Cairns Marina
The only way to get closer to Trinity Inlet than the Hilton Cairns Hotel is to go for a swim. Guests enjoy views of the Inlet, Cairns Marina, and the rainforest-covered mountains in the distance. Attention to the specific needs of different travelers is a hallmark of the Hilton Cairns Hotel. Children enjoy activities designed just for them -- and their parents can slip away for alone time knowing the kids are in capable hands. A range of services and meeting room options provides business travelers with a tropical office they will not want to leave.
Highlights
- Lagoon-style pool
- Activities for children and child-friendly menus
- 24-hour business center
Rooms
Many of the rooms at Hilton Cairns provide unbeatable views of the water and the mountains. The spacious accommodations feature contemporary décor and amenities such as balconies, 37-inch LCD high definition televisions, high-speed wired or wireless Internet, and on-demand video games and movies.
Features
Though the hotel is just one block from the departure point for the Great Barrier Reef, it offers plenty of reasons to stay on property. Workouts are not a chore in the health club, surrounded by lush tropical gardens. Other leisure amenities include a lagoon-style pool, Jacuzzi, and on-site massage therapists and personal trainers.
The hotel features two on-site restaurants. Mondo Café Bar and Grill -- with outdoor seating overlooking Trinity Bay -- specializes in seafood platters and curries for lunch and dinner. Celebrity chef Jimmy Shu's Hanuman restaurant -- open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner -- takes diners on a journey through the flavors of Thai, Indian, Chinese, and Malay cuisines.

Overall good hotel
This hotel has been recently renovated. The rooms are nice. Wifi and wired Internet are not free and it is charged $29 per day per device. That seemed high and a frivolous charge to me. The interior courtyard has planter boxes full of half dead vegetation, which they should either maintain or get rid of. Other than that everything is great and an upgrade to the Executive Lounge for free breakfast is worth it.

Short walk from hotel
Everything for shopping closes rather early in Cairns. Don't expect to shop much after 5:30 or 6:00.

We upgraded to waterview spa room
We upgraded to waterview spa room which was well worth it as had great views. Close to many restaurants and casino is just accross the road. We hired a car for our stay but didn't really need it as only used to drive to Mosman Gorge/Port Douglas on the first day and Palm Cove on last. Can walk to most things. All boat tours leave 300m from door and Skyrail/Kuranda Train has a service that picks you up so really didn't need the car. Comfy rooms with typical Hilton comfort. Fantastic house keeping so that we always came back to fresh sheets, clean fluffy towels and spotless room. Very friendly service from all staff. Would highly recommend.

We arrived late at night. There was no concierge to assist with luggage but that didn't really concern us. On arrival we were upgraded to a corner room with extraordinary views of the Cairns inlet. Also asked and received late checkout. Easy walk to lots of activities, the shopping area, and many great restaurants. Loved it.

Fantastic family getaway
[...] noisy construction on two floor levels beneath ours was in full swing. My wife heard jack hammers at about 7AM and was not happy. The morning manager at the front desk was sorry an upgraded us to a different floor. I didn't have the time to move to a different hotel or deal with trying to contact or deal with [...]about our pre-paid reservations from Australia. We had plans and reservations for our vacation that would have been lost or missed if we tried to deal with this situation. We were able to take advantage of the Hilton hotels location but could have stayed somewhere where there wasn't two floors of construction. But again the morning manager and I wished I remembered her name was very nice and very helpful and we were able to have a great time in Cairns. River rafting with R&R and diving at the Great Barrier Reef etc.

Great location
Unbelievable location. Two dining options on site. Right on the water, walking distance to town, shopping, the piers...great value for the price. Bathrooms weren't very clean, rooms dated, but overall, great hotel.

A nice hotel in a beautiful setting
The Hilton Cairns features nice clean rooms, a fantastic pool and the friendly knowledgeable staff you would expect from a Hilton. Although some aspects of the hotel still appear in need of renovations/redesigning, such as the corridors outside the rooms having a distinct outdoor motel feel and look, and the aggravating need to take the stairwell down 2 flights to get to the health center and pool, all in all this is a top notch hotel in a fantastic city. The hotel is located just a couple of short, easily walked, blocks from the main strips of Cairns giving vacationers and business travelors both easy access and a nice buffer from downtown happenings. It is also just a block away from one of the areas main marinas so getting to your tour boats for days of scuba and snorkeling couldnt be easier. The only drawback regarding the Hiltons location is that it is right across the street from Cairn's main casino (thus there can be some noise issues from Thurs through the weekend), but if your looking to enjoy a little gambling during your stay, that location may actually be a nice bonus.

Dining tip:
In Hotel
If staying at the Hilton, or just staying in Cairns, one of the real hidden gems of the city is the Hanuman restaurant, found within the Hilton. This restaurant, featuring a menu filled with Thai/Indian offerings, featured some of the tastiest food I had during my 2 week vacation (the Vindaloo beef, hot enough to bring a tear to the eye, was especially good).
