Budget-friendly hotel outside Cairns city center

The New Chalon is a Best Western hotel near the Cairns central shopping center and the Cairns Golf Course. The hotel is a five-minute drive from the city's top attractions and the Cairns Esplanade, via the Cairns City Southern Access Road. The all-suite hotel offers free in-room movies as well as a DVD library for guest use.

Rooms

The Best Western New Chalon has 37 air-conditioned suites. The decor is basic, with brightly colored bedspreads. Room amenities include free cable television with sports channels. Most rooms have high-speed Internet access (fees may apply). Suites have queen-sized beds. Family and studio suites have compact kitchenettes so guests can cook in their rooms. The large television in each suite is perfect for guests who want to watch a DVD from the hotel's collection. Room service is available.

Clean hotel with lovely pool,

Clean hotel with lovely pool, though they could do with a shade over the pool to keep it cool, it was a bit like a warm bath. The hotel was a bit far out of town, but the cheaper price reflects that and I had a hire car, so it only took around 15 minutes to the centre of Cairns. The one annoying thing in the room I stayed in was the air conditioner must have been pretty old because it kept making a clunking sound and was pretty noisy - lucky I had ear plugs!

The overall hotel was excellent,I would recommend any travelers venturing into Cairns to book into the hotel, you will not be disappointed.For the hungry travelers i would recommend the mixed grill in the restaurant,you will not go away hungry
