Brand new hotel! Very clean, nice bar/restaurant...great chef who cooks an amazing breakfast. Rooms are a little small..but ... not as small as some I've been in...New York or Chicago. I would definitely stay at the hotel again!

A short bus ride to Queensland Mall are two great open air restaurants right in the center of the walkway Jimmy's (sports bar). Try the Morten Bay Bugs entree and the Pig n'Whistle restaurant's meat pies. The entertainment - people watching and the food a little pricey - but excellent.

i was only in brisbane one night, but did not want to stay way out at the airport, The Portal was in a good location, an ... easy walk to queen street mall shops and a little further to south bank shops. Hotel was very stylish, but very small, which was OK for me since I was alone. Super comfy beds and luxurious linens.

Sleek Boutique!
A Couple of Boomers Sep 15, 2009
Small but absolutely spotless - state of the art class act renovations. Restaurant bar on site. A bit of a walk to get ... anywhere - but bus service is free and about a block away. No pool but we weren't there to swim. Would stay there again.

Brisbane Portal Hotel
Brisbane Fan Sep 14, 2009
I was in Brisbane to watch the RiverFire fireworks. The hotel is a small, clean and modern boutique place very convenient to ... everything. There is a small walk up a hill, but nothing too exerting. My room was small. But was fine for one person. The deal included breakfast, which was delicious. The staff were friendly and very helpful.

New and hip but still working things out
Professor Aug 6, 2009
The rooms are stylish and hip, but quite small. The only major problem we had is that the air ventilation system did not ... work. We were told by the night clerk that this often happened during the winter months when the outside temperature is deemed "too cool" by the rooftop sensor to permit you to turn on the air conditioning in your own room. Since the windows are hermetically sealed, your only option is to turn on the heat or to sit in stuffy air. There was no fan available; the machine simply did not permit you to take any other action. When contacted, the night clerk was apologetic and said that this was a common complaint but that there was nothing that could be done. She said the management was already aware of the matter. When I spoke to the manager the next morning, he seemed to have no idea that this was a common issue faced by many previous guests, and did not appear to believe me until another couple standing nearby overheard and insisted that they too experienced the same problem. The manager did little to rectify the situation.
