Yularu monopoly on hotels

We knew that all hotels at Ayers Rock are located within one block and all owned by the same holding company. With that said, we read the prior reviews and tried to pick the hotel with the highest ratings - Sails in the Desert. It was overpriced, but that was expected. What I wasn't anticipating was the number of bugs present in the hotel. When we inquired, we were told that it is 'a natural desert environment and we don't exterminate.' . .. . .this includes the restaurant areas. If you are intent on seeing Yularu and the history of the Aborigines then this is the best option of hotels - just know what you're getting into. They are slowly renovating all the rooms, it is highly needed. We had drinks in the bar, and the chairs were very worn, threadbare would be the better description. Wireless internet is available, but at a high cost, food is all average, nothing above ordinary.

Thoroughly enjoyed the time there.

Thoroughly enjoyed the time there. Everything was excellent and the service from check-in to check-out was extremely friendly. What impressed me was the friendliness of Staff wherever we went. They greeted us and checked on any needs we had....not often one finds that at hotels. It was my second visit and I will definitely return and definitely stay at Sails in the Desert.

Everything is very good. The only thing is a bit pricey. Everyone was friendy and service was great. We had brekky and all were delicious. The room is spacious and comfortable. The hotel is simple and modern design, I liked it. There were many bugs in room I encountered but maybe any hotel in Uluru had it. Plus they put a note about bugs so it was a good warning.

The Kuniya restaurant food was outstanding as well as the impeccable service there. My bed and linen were beautiful with comfy pillows. Bath products were delightfully fresh and unlike any elsewhere I had been. I loved the close proximity to shopping centre and the incorporated giftshop and art gallery. The shuttle service and tour operators were great. I would stay there again.

We have to wait 1hour before having a room for 3 people at 5pm. Everything in a room for only 2 people during all the stay. Not any help for luggages. Service like in a 3star hotel.

The hotel was a little oasis in

The hotel was a little oasis in the desert and the pool very welcome in the heat of January. Only drawback was the very limited number of TV stations which you do rely on when resting inside to avoid the heat of the day.
