Chifley Alice Springs Resort
We stayed here for one night at the beginning of a tour to Uluru/Ayers Rock. The hotel room was huge and quite comfortable but a bit drab. The staff was friendly but the hotel could make a stronger effort to coordinate better with the tour companies, since this is a major jumping off point for such tours. Alice Springs itself has little to offer the tourist. The mall is a short walk from the hotel but it consists of a one-block concentration of shops and restaurants. We were hard-pressed to find things to do other than visiting the Reptile Center (which could be viewed in under an hour). The hotel's restaurant (Barra on Todd) offers excellent food, including kangaroo and several different preparations of barramundi.

Barra on Todd is an excellent choice for dinner or lunch.
