The Carrington Hotel was once considered one of the four finest hotels in the British Empire. Because it was built over 125 years ago, there are some limitations that go with that ... bathrooms are communal, though there are private stalls for
shower / bath / toilet; the wood floors / stairs creak, and the wifi was a bit weak in our room / part of the hotel. For me, these things were outweighed by the opportunity to stay in such a grand hotel, with such history, character and charm. The staff was very helpful and friendly, and the included continental breakfast in the hotel dining room was great. The hotel is located a short distance from the Katoomba train station and the local buses stop right in front of the hotel. We walked to Echo Point from the hotel, hiked to Scenic World, caught the bus to Blackheath and Wentworth Falls for more hikes, and enjoyed some great meals and flat whites near the hotel on Katoomba Road. If staying in a historical hotel appeals to you, you'll love the Carrington!
