Good Location

It's great that the supermarket is just opposite to the hotel. And just few minutes walk to Central station or paddy's market or china town. But the bathroom is too small. And you have to pay for TV?!

Love the location

Really nice location, must admit that. But on average very small rooms, no WI-FI, expensive breakfast...

Sydney Trip

The staff at the hotel were great! The room on the other hand was older. The air conditioner barely worked and the beds were like concrete. I ended up going to a different hotel on the fourth day of being there just to get a pleasant, good nights rest.

Time-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Get a hotel by Circular Quay, Darwin Bay or I'd recommend on Manly Beach. The rest of the areas is the business side of Sydney. high traffic from people coming and going to work and even after work, the pubs and restaurants will have you surrounded by business talk.

An expensive 2-star hotel with problems

The room was small, but it was only there as a place to sleep. In-room internet was pricey, but the breakfast buffet was ridiculous at $20! I've had better included for free in hotel rooms at 2/3 the price. The A/C unit had an oscillating fan, which stopped oscillating halfway through my stay. One of the two lights built-in to the headboard did not work. The hotel included a card in my check-in package saying they would automatically charge me $1/day for a charity unless I opted out. I called the front desk to ask about the charity, Mission Australia. I asked if it was religious and was told "No, it's not. All the money goes to the children." (Apparently the two are mutually exclusive in Australia.) :-) I then double-checked on the web and sure enough, the gentleman at the front desk was wrong. The charity's purpose is to bring glory to the Christian god. I made sure I opted-out. So, an opt-out plan and staff that doesn't know about the charity they're collecting for.

There are plenty of restaurants within a short walk. There's a Krispy Kreme one block up on George Street where you can get two doughnuts and coffee for $6.50, vice $20 for the buffet.

Great location

Ibis Hotel is ideally located. Walking distance to China town and the city center and George St. We were really happy we picked this hotel in Sydney. Although the rooms were not that big, it was very clean. Shower area was a bit cramp though.
