Travelodge Wynyard Sydney

We are doing a round the world trip & encountered very nice or very bad hotel and that's the hazard of the travelling. At Travelodge, we reserved first 4 days at a valuable price with [...]. We decided to stay at Sydney, 4 days more and made another 4 days reservation ...the price was a higher price (100 euros instead 60 euros)but we decided to reserve and got the confirmation from ebookers. Travelodge mgt refused to accept it, telling us that no more room was available & [...] computers systems were dis-synchronized with the rooms availability. You must know that the International Naval fair & exhibition just started ....travelodge refused rooms at a price of 300 USD the night (hotel is located 500m from the harbour). We made so much scandal that finally travelodge accepted to honor the reservation of [...]. The problems started: rooms key never fonctionning...we had to reload at the front desk more tha 10 times in 4 days. We got a room check at 9.30 PM to see if we are smoking in the room (in such cas a fine of 200 dollars is applicable).This is harassment & we can not accept such methods

We were told the cost covered the breakfast which was not the case. Buffet breakfast was over priced at $25.00 a person. Bed was supposed to be a queen bed but when my wife and I went to bed, there was not excess room with just the two of us. Bed was not innerspring but cotton filled. Room was small, not more that 10' x 15' and no seperate shower stall, just a shower head in the bathroom by the comode.

Location was great for Circular Quay and surrounding areas. Most of the staff were great and went out of their way to make a sightseeing activity gone wrong ok. However: Had to ask for a washcloth the first two dates; never received first wakeup call; when asked whether we could exchange currency we were told yes, but then when we came to do this a few days later when we needed it for a day trip they would only exchange a very small amount; manager on duty would not come and talk to us when we were trying to arrange details for another nights stay when we returned from our cruise (tried 3 different times); severely needs some modernization and upgrades.

This hotel was located in a very convenient part of Sydney that made it easy to see most of the core tourist spots by walking, and the staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and kept that way. The down side was that the room we had was fairly noisy during the night.All said, the price was very good and I would definitely stay there again

The hotel was an ordinary, okay hotel with a good rate. The location is good too. It is right next to Wynyard station. So we took the AirportLink, since we arrived during morning rush hour. It is in a walking distance to Circular Quay and Darling Harbour. We were not able to check in to our room when we arrived, but they had a shower room for us to use after a long trip. The hotel service was not the best. The front desk and travel desk seemed very busy and we had to wait for awhile to get any service. We used a computer by the front desk because they told us that we would be able to do what we wanted, but discovered that we actually could not. We still had to pay for the time we spent on the computer. The shuttle service to the airport that is advertised at the front desk never showed up for us. So if you are using this service, make sure you make a reservation with extra time.

The hotel is in a PERFECT location. Everything is close. However the hotel doesn't have much in it other than a simple resturant, coffe bar, and internet cafe. This is not a hotel experience vacation destination. However if you want to see the city it's perfect. The rooms were average in size and for the most part clean. I would have liked a cleaner bathroom but I say again, for the price it is perfect to see Syndey.

i wanted to be near restaurants or shops that open late. i was right at the end of town. china town took a 45 min. trek. did my own wash at their facility and the dryer took too long. the front desk was friendly and fast. limited my pillows, had myself husband and toddler. wanted another 4 but they would not let us. its an open shower area with no walls which is ok but the toilet paper roll kept getting wet. overall ok.

The hotel was good, but when we checked out we were charged $60.00 for phone calls. The only calls we made were with a pre paid phone card, only one call got through, the other 4 or 5 calls were not connected. I told this to the front desk but they insisted every time you pick up the phone ther is a charge. I agreed, but thought it should be about a dollar or two if the call is not connected. They insisted the $60 is right, and we had to pay it. All I can say is do not pick up the phone in the room!

This is a superb location close to the Wynnard station, Starbucks, George St, the Rocks, Opera House, shopping, and many many restaurants. Note of interest approximately a few steps from the corner of the hotel are some good options for excellent food and good prices. Overall, I would stay again because the value is superb. This is a great economically priced hotel for an awesome international location: "vacation on a dime".
