Decidedly hip, rooms, public spaces and the hotel's popular restaurants are crowded with the beautiful and design-savvy. The posh address in Surry Hills affords easy access to shopping, entertainment and public transport. Yet you might find it hard to leave--relaxing beds, plentiful amenities and abundant support for business travelers draw repeat customers.Highlights
- Townhouse Bar and Restaurant's lively beer garden
- Indoor heated pool, spa and sauna
- Sleek design
- Located in one of Sydney's hippest neighborhoods
Rooms
The hotel's 271 contemporary rooms feature signature cloud beds, draped in cream spreads, black and tan throws and sage pillows. White walls too crisp for art are contrasted by black-checkered carpet and noir wood furniture, plus gray pullout sofas. The effect is spare but classy. Rooms also feature large LCD TVs, white tiled bathrooms and Wi-Fi (fees apply).
Features
Sydney scenesters congregate at the Townhouse Bar and Restaurant, sipping brews in the beer garden and sampling fresh pub grub in the dining room from noon until late. Breakfast is served daily in Albies Restaurant and Bar, but the chef's real skills shine at dinner (Monday-Saturday). Order sustainable cuisine like confit duck leg, duck and foie gras sausage, beetroot and lentils.
The hotel also features a full fitness center, indoor heated lap pool, sauna, spa, parking (fees apply) and high-speed Internet access (fees apply).

Nice place, nice location
Slightly off the beaten path, Surry Hills is a great place to be. Cool streets, great restaurants, and pretty good vintage shops. Extremely accessible as it's a stone's throw from Central station. Rooms were nice, spacious and I haven;t gotten better for a 4 star place in Australia.

In a word, excellent! My wife
In a word, excellent! My wife and I were most impressed with the courtesy and efficiency of all staff, particularly Lilian and the other young women at the front desk, and the young men who undertook the valet parking and ferried our luggage to our room. Thank you: we shall be back!

Sydney was almost completely booked
Sydney was almost completely booked out during Labour Weekend 2010 so we stayed here rather than stay at the serviced apartments that I have been using - they were booked out. We had two rooms with a couple and 5 children from 11 to 15 years. The king size bed had an enormous amount of roll-together, with a mattress overlay that was thick in the corners and thin in the middle. I woke up more tired every day. The sofa beds were also very uncomfortable, with a spring poking up in one. The rooms were nice and clean with the glaring exception of a syringe (no needle thankfully!) hiding under the desk. On the plus side, the kids loved the fish in the lobby floor and had a blast in the pool.
