Excellent location
This hotel is in the central business district in Sydney, close to shopping. The room was large, the bathroom excellent with nice shower stall and tub. Internet access (both WiFi and hardwired) overpriced.

Darling Harbour, a vibrant and entertaining area of Sydney, is a short but beautiful 5-minute walk from the hotel. The area is not as popular as the Sydney standards, but is not to be missed if you are in town for more than a day.

Great Location, Great Price
First trip to Sydney. Hotel is 5mins away from St. James Train Station. 2mins away from Monolrail Station. Central location to Sydney Harbour or Darling Harbor. Hotel Lobby on 8th Floor, private and quiet. Lobby bar and restaurant lovely and good value for money. Staff very friendly and profesional. Laundry facility in Hotel. Beautiful clean room and bathroom. Theatre across the street. Cafe next door for light breakfast. Losts of restaurants at the Rocks or Darling Harbour. Plenty to do and see. Great Vacation

Shopping tip:
Short walk from hotel
Go to Paddy's Market, China town on the monorail. Get the Day pass and tour all the different locations and use the coupons at the restaurants. Great underground shopping that leads to the Queen Victoria building. Good souvenier stores at Darling Harbor and Quays.

Swissotel Sydney (near QVB)
Swissotel is conveniently located just steps away from the best shopping in Sydney, The Queen Victoria Building shopping complex and many other shoppes are within 3 square blocks, including some of the most delectable multi-cultural restaurants. I walked from the hotel to Darling Harbor, the Aquarium, and the Sydney Tower and China Town.

Unbeatable location for the price
The hotel was cost effective and the place was right down town close to train station, legal office, the waters, etc.

Would Definitely Stay Here Again!!!
Here are some highlights from my stay at the Swissotel on Market Street in Sydney: 1)Location: The Swissotel is right in the heart of Sydney's CBD. Circular Quay is only a 10-15 minute walk (ferries to Taronga Zoo depart from here). 2)Rooms: My room was very clean, but the bed was VERY firm. I prefer a softer bed, so this was disappointing for me. The ~26" LCD TV had all the basics and more. 3)In-Room Internet: A big disappointment. The Swissotel charges ~25AUD/24 hours for Internet in guest room, and the speed is very slow (about 0.5Mb/sec). TIP: You can get a free Internet connection in the lobby/restaurant/bar area after check-in. This is achieved through a code a guest gets with their room key. 4)Pool/Exercise Area/Spa: The pool at the Swissotel is excellent! It is heated and is suitable for laps. Also, there is a hot tub out by the pool. The exercise room is small but adequate with 2 stationary bikes, 2 treadmills, and an elliptical trainer. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Sydney if I get the same great rate from Orbitz. When I booked in June 2009, Orbitz was running a special at this hotel which could not be beat!

BIG TIP: If you need to get to/from Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport, take the AirportLink train to/from St. James station. St. James is only three blocks away from the hotel, and the cost one-way to/from the airport is 15.20 AUD (a return ticket is discounted). Also, the AirportLink train runs around every 15 minutes. I took a taxi to the Swissotel from Sydney's International terminal and wound up paying a tremendous sum!

Great service, great hotel
Great hotel and the staff was extremely helpful and nice, specially the concierge. We really enjoyed this hotel -- great location if you want to do things around Darling Harbor. A bit of a walk to Circular Quay, Opera House and the Botanical gardens. We were quite impressed with the staff and service of this hotel -- had a great stay!!!!

loved the location, 5 minute walk to darling harbour, 10 minute walk to circular quay, 2 minute walk to hyde park, right next to the tower, a quick walk through the QVB to the town hall rail station pitt st market is currently being renovated, so there was some extra noise and construction vehicles, but it looks like the future development should be gorgeous

excellent hotel, some unexpected charges
The swissotel has a great location, fabulous breakfasts and very nice rooms. There is no indication in your room however that there is a charge for local calls and a local call to a cell phone cost over $20. I think that is excessive.

Great Hotel!
I read all of the reviews prior to booking this hotel... To sum it up, I don't think you'll find much better for the price in Sydney. The location is perfect! Right next to the train/monorail you need to get the big spots, bus stop for outlying locations such as Bondi, and near a food court for less expensive dining options. By American standards my actual sleeping area may have been a tad small, but the bathroom was unbelievable! Full tub and glass shower-awesome. To all those that complained about the bed, I'm not sure what to say. Yes, it is firm, but they have the pillow menu right by the bed to help correct that. Fitness center, spa, pool, sauna are wonderful! Used daily while I was there. Can't comment on the restaurant, as it is a tad pricey and I avoided. Overall, a perfect location in Sydney.

Don't get off at the Town Square train station. Take the St. James station to/from the airport. It's only about a block farther walk to the hotel and will save you a few bucks.
