Swissotel Sydney

We very much enjoyed our stay at the Swissotel in Sydney. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and were only too happy to give us directiors and reccomdendations. The room was very clean, spacious and modern. Great facilities. Would definitely return to the Swissotel.

Great location, though this is NOT a 5-star hotel. It was not cool that I had to pay for internet....not cool.

The hotel was cost effective and the place was right down town close to train station, legal office, the waters, etc.

This is an amazing hotel. If you want to be in the middle of CBD shopping in Sydney this is the place. One minute you are in the middle of Myers in Pitt St Mall the next minute you are in the seclusion of your 5 star oasis! We stayed on the Executive Level with all the perks that you would expect. Canapes were fine but there could be a little more variety but the drinks selection was good. The beds were comfy and the room spacious. Service was great from check in to the clubroom to checkout. Highly recommended.

Here are some highlights from my stay at the Swissotel on Market Street in Sydney: 1)Location: The Swissotel is right in the heart of Sydney's CBD. Circular Quay is only a 10-15 minute walk (ferries to Taronga Zoo depart from here). 2)Rooms: My room was very clean, but the bed was VERY firm. I prefer a softer bed, so this was disappointing for me. The ~26" LCD TV had all the basics and more. 3)In-Room Internet: A big disappointment. The Swissotel charges ~25AUD/24 hours for Internet in guest room, and the speed is very slow (about 0.5Mb/sec). TIP: You can get a free Internet connection in the lobby/restaurant/bar area after check-in. This is achieved through a code a guest gets with their room key. 4)Pool/Exercise Area/Spa: The pool at the Swissotel is excellent! It is heated and is suitable for laps. Also, there is a hot tub out by the pool. The exercise room is small but adequate with 2 stationary bikes, 2 treadmills, and an elliptical trainer. I would definitely stay here again the next time I am in Sydney if I get the same great rate from Orbitz. When I booked in June 2009, Orbitz was running a special at this hotel which could not be beat!

Location is top! Cheese fondue is great but swiss type chinese fondue is very good.

Service was excellent. we were offered a free lunch meal during our stay however they only offered steak - no other option. Although we are not vegetarian i was disappointed by this as we had eaten steak the night before and wanted something different. Also we requested more coffee in our rooms and we received three extra, considering that there was two of us staying and we had advised that we were only given 2 to begin with for the whole stay we were a little disappointed. Also the room service was very poor. We ordered two club sandwhiches which ccost us $55! we understand that it was going to be a little expensive but when we received the meals they were cold and tastelless and not worth $10 let alone $50. all in all a good place to stay and i would stay again but they need to improve room service and reduce their prices. the state of the furniture in the bar/lounge area was very worn and very poor and shabby looking also.

More information on the Spa, forgot it was there so didn't get to attend. Excellant location walking distance to everything, operah house Bridge Casino Darling harbour centrepoint tower subway and monorail ECT.

I hadn't stayed at a 5 star hotel for a while, and Swiss was definately one. Staff were very professional and courteous, and the hotel was exactly as I wished (and expected). I didnt think any meals were included in our package however staff advised that we had a complimentary lunch. This was not convenient and they exchanged it for breakfast which was a true 5 star breakfast and absolutely fantastic. My only minor criticism was that the scrambled eggs were dry. I didnt point this out to staff who I am sure would have rectified this. The restaurant was busy at the time and staff appeared a little flustered. In all, the stay was fantastic and Swissotel is a true 5 star establishment which I redcommend.

The rooms were extremely spacious (esp. the corner rooms) and the facilities offered was good - it was a shame they dismantled the milk steamer on the in-room cuppucino maker. The key passes didnt work the first time we used it and it takes a few trials before the door registers and unlocks. All in all, it was a nice hotel.
