Five-star elegance and service in downtown Sydney
Five-star Sofitel Sydney delivers equal measure of class and comfort to a polished clientele in Sydney's business district. Since the 1800s, this historic hotel has lured the likes of Princess Diana, Queen Elizabeth and the first men on the moon. Whether you are royalty or simply a traveler in search of the best, rest knowing you have selected a hotel touted for the most comfortable beds in Sydney. A new renovation has given rooms a supple feel with plush furnishings. Guests can expect business amenities, fine cuisine and an eco-friendly day spa.
Highlights
- Lattouf Aveda Spa provides luxurious body treatments and massages
- Whimsical service provides everything from teddy bears to non-allergenic pillows
- Walking distance to most attractions
- French-inspired Garden Court restaurant
- Preferred stay for royalty and celebrities
Rooms
Whether you want to lounge in a deep marble tub, connect with your secretary back home or settle into the hotel's signature (and oh so comfortable) MyBed, the Sofitel's 436 guest rooms promise Sydney's finest luxury. Awash in hues of sage, plum, navy and cocoa, guest quarters hug a central courtyard--though the 46 suites benefit most from these views. Guests enjoy in-room Wi-Fi (fees apply).
Features
To please the roll call of ambassadors and celebrities, the hotel provides a menu of services that range from teddy bears for children to non-allergenic pillows. Still, the hotel's premier attraction is the Garden Court restaurant (open for breakfast and dinner daily and lunch on weekdays), which serves modern Australian cuisine with a French sensibility. Items like the salt-cured Tasmanian salmon with beetroot, seeded mustard and dill dressing or the tantalizing cheese buffet make this a local icon. For lighter fare and live jazz on some evenings, the Sofitel Lounge caters to a business crowd.
The hotel has a fitness center and the Lattouf Aveda Spa (go for hair styling and botanical-inspired massages and facials) is located onsite. Guests also have access to parking and Wi-Fi (fees apply).

The hotel is lovely, however the service was the worst I've experienced. I was charged again for my room which had already been paid for through [this website], for which they only begrudgingly apologised for. They also got my check out date wrong and caused me to panic about being charged for a third time.

Great location near Circular Quay!
The hotel staff was very friendly, and the room was fairly comfortable. The king bed was two double beds converted into a king. It was comfortable, but the connector was lumpy in the middle. The bathroom had a heated mirror but a weird shower with only a half of a shower door that leaked water. Room service food had good proportions, but the delivery fee was a little high. We appreciated the umbrellas given to us when it was raining. The concierge helped us immensely during our stay.

Time-saving tip:
Not Applicable
There is a pass you can buy for the train, bus and ferry lines. It helps you avoid the lines at the stations. Since the hotel is near Circular Quay, which is a transportation hub, it is easy to get around the hotel area.

Perfect for a getaway or a business trip
Excellent location, easy access to the airport. Very clean rooms; discrete, courteous, and helpful staff. The weaknesses are few and minor, such as very little closet space and somewhat poor sound isolation.

ABSOLUTELY MARVELOUS
The Hotel was lovely, the staff very friendly and the room was comfortable and cosey. I think that the only drawbacks were that there was no swimming pool and that the internet charges were UNBELIEVABLY HIGH considering that they get it free and most of the big hotels offer the internet for free to their customers. It was a great location and very, very easy to walk absolutely everywhere. Super!!!

Lovely hotel
The hotel is lovely and only a 3 or 4 block walk down to Circular Quay. it is in the middle of the business district so there are only a couple of restaurants open on the week-end, but 2 or 3 more open during the week. The concierges were extremely helpful and the accommodations were beautiful.

Sydney vacation.
Very clean hotel. Room was rather small but it has all of the required amenities. The location was excellent. Very close to all of the key attractions like the Rock and the Opera House. The only issue was the $25 charge per day for wireless. We moved to another hotel and the wireless was free.

This was the best hotel of our trip. Beautifully decorated, nice room, great staff and fantastic breakfast buffet. Only bad was that we had a flight to catch early and could not enjoy the breakfast again.

Short walk from hotel
It was a short walk to the Circular Quay area (water) where you could catch ferries, buses, shop, dine and sight see the Harbor Bridge and the Opera House. Not a lot of restaurants close by...had to walk to find but not far away.

Great Hotel...5 Star!
As soon as you walk in you smell the fresh flowers and know your in a 5 star or higher hotel. The entire hotel was first class. We had a balcony room overlooking the front of the hotel and gardens that allowed us to let fresh air in. The room was excellent. Nice bedding and comfortable bed. Bathroom was very modern and had lots of storage. Well worth the money paid.

Dining tip:
Short walk from hotel
Drinks: (1/2 the price of the hotel bar) go out the back entrance and turn right about 15 meters to the Bligh Hotel (bar). They have great prices for drinks and great bar food. Dinner: Chophouse Steakhouse right out the back of the hotel across Bligh street. Great steakhouse with great food. Try the Shortribs. They fall right off the bone. We also had the Spatchcock (chicken). Good price and good value. For breakfast try the resturant/coffee house also on Bligh street just to the left of the back entrance about 10 meters.
