we stayed in the Pensione Hotel
we stayed in the Pensione Hotel Sydney early March 2010. It is a quirky hotel, with access to reception via a lift or long flight of stairs. Lifts give access to rooms, but you also have to negotiate corridors and small flights of stairs with your luggage. Hotel has a communal area with microwave facilities, used I would think mainly by young travellers, (we are oldies!) and a laundry The bedroom we had was to the back and therefore quieter than front of hotel which overlooks very busy street. Room was small but very clean, modern and comfortable. Nice bathroom. Good access to Darling harbour, China Town and central Sydney. Would recommend this hotel. ZandJ. Glasgow, Scotland

Other than not having parking
Other than not having parking nearby the actual motel/hotel is quite good. The staff are very helpful & will actually do anything to help you which is a nice change.

The hotel is centrally located
The hotel is centrally located in Sydney's Chinatown and is within walking distance to Central Railway Station. After an overseas trip with a suitcase each, there was limited access to walk around the bed. The room was basic with a small hanging rack for clothes. The standard of housekeeping was okay as far as the linen was concerned but it was disappointing that even though I left a note in the room requesting a replacement kettle because it was faulty and would not boil the water properly, this request was ignored. As the room had very little facilities, the least a guest can expect is an appliance that operates properly to at least make a cup of tea.

Do not stay in romm 116.We couldnt sleep, as there is a bar in the next room.We complained but they didnt have another vacant room.The noise didnt stop til 5.20am.

Enjoyed hotel and area but was disappointed that the "no smoking" policy was not policed. Drinking, smoking and loud talking in the middle of the night opposite our room was not a good experience and therefore a reason not to recommend this hotel to our friends.

Photos of rooms indicated they were much larger. Room was very small but clean. Disappointing that we had to pay for luggage storage. I have never encountered this in either boutique or larger hotels.
