Metro Hotel Sydney Central

I prefer the Metro Hotel at 300 Pitt Street which is more central and a little bit more modern. I appreciated being given a complimentary newspaper in the morning from both Metro Hotels on Pitt St.

I felt that some of the areas were a tad tierd. The room was small and we had problems with the neighbour room's guests playing music loud each night and when we complained, they were asked to turn it down. The pool area was needing some cosmetic therepy but there was ample information in the reception area and the staff were good.

Close to the Capitol Theatre makes it a convenient place to stay.

The stuff was friendly, we called a day earlier that we wanted to stay an extra day, the next day. They even gave us a better price. The location is fantastic, you can not go wrong with Pitt Street or George. However, the bathroom was really old, the tiles were moldy and there was no shower gel. After requesting they refilled the dispenser that seemed malfunctional so after going for a day-long walk there was no shower gel left in it by the evening... it all dripped into the bathtub. I booked the hotel for the last 2 days of our Australian trip because it has a rooftop jacuzzi and a swimming pool. After half an hour of trying to locate it in a swimsuit we ended up at the reception where we learned that it is under construction. At least they should tell you if not at booking then when you get there. In the hotel it is shown as a 3 star hotel, that is kind of ok, do not expect more than that. Book it if the similar locations are very price, otherwise I can recommend the Metro On Pitt, which is its "sister" hotel and was much nicer.

Our twin bedroom was a bit small, but the beds were comfy, clean and very well serviced.

The room 808 is clean and have a pretty good view. Reasonable price and close to world square.

Highly variable service from rude push backs to very helpful which shows a lack of consistent training or none. Poor use of space in rooms eg ours had one double and one single bed and nothing else which was hard to move in. The swimming pool was freezing and the spa was empty and not in use. The lifts were consistently malfunctioning. It is not taking good advantage of a reasonable location for decent low cost accommodation.

Do not bother with the Hotel breakfast it was dreadful and the staff treated us like we an interuption to their lives. The rooms are basic. Bed was comfortable. For the middle of Sydney the rooms were relatively quiet.

The room configuration was not as it was in your website. I had to insist that the bedding be made available as per the photo, as that was the sole reason for booking that hotel. They did do this for me very promptly after some discussion.
