Good location and value
This was my first stay in this hotel in a number of years; the last time that I stayed there, it was still a Hilton, and the experience then was very ordinary. Under Mercure, everything has improved: service, rooms, food. Overall, a good experience, and good value for the money. I would stay there again if rates stay the same. The only negative had nothing to do with the hotel: the SSS shuttle was supposed to arrive after 15 minutes, but it took over half an hour on a cold night, and the driver was rude to a couple of passengers, and threw my bag on the floor.

Convenient short stay
Hotel is a convenient distance to the airport - walking distance if desired. Transport to the hotel was confusing but not necessarily the fault of the hotel. Main lobby, dining room and bar are undergoing a complete re-modeling and re-furbishing so that leaves a bit to be desired at the moment. Our room was comfortable and quiet. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. The gym and the pool are in need of a facelift but am hopeful they are on the agenda. And the grounds need some maintenance. The biggest down side is that there are no other facilities such as restarurants or stores nearby. The train to downtown is a ten minute or so walk away but because of weather we were unable to try it out. All in all, however, our stay was a pleasent one and we would definitely re-book it.

Can't wait until the renovation is done...
I am trying to be generous. This hotel is undergoing major renovation. The desk staff were awesome, and the room (renovated) was lovely: bed comfy, clean, bath good. No business center. The in-house restaurant was... OK. Menu items didn't particularly draw me ( I like high protein/veg mixes), and the morning breakfast buffet was tepid. The bartender didn't get a gimlet (isn't that fairly standard???). I would stay there again to see if things picked up after the renovation, but if not majorly improved, I will book elsewhere.

Okay location, nice staff, lots of little charges
First off, the location of the hotel next to the Sydney International terminal is great, especially for early morning flights. I recommend not taking a taxi from the airport as it costs a lot more than it should for a 5 minutes drive. I would recommend the much cheaper hotel suggested shuttle to/from the airport...even if you have to wait a bit for the pick-up. The check-in staff was nice and quick with check-in process. The hotel room (on the 6th floor) was spacious and very quiet, although a little worn, with a nice large TV. The room service staff were great and very friendly. Now the drawbacks. While close to the airport, not much else is around for dining, so had to rely on roomservice/hotel restaurant which is pretty expensive. It would be nice to see some cheaper options on the menu. The internet is extremely expensive for a day. You do get 30 minutes free in the lobby, but if you want to use the internet in your room, or anything more than 30 minutes in the lobby, it is very expensive. Any miscellaneous items forgotten (shaver, etc.) can be purchased, but at a moderate to high price from the hotel. I never received my wake up call (luckily I always have a back-up alarm), so be sure to have a back-up. Lastly, there is a surcharge for using a credit card, so be sure to keep that in mind.

Good stay, poor resturant service
The hotel was within easy distance from the Sydney airport for an overnight stay. It's cheaper and more convenient to take a taxi than the hotel shuttle for two people. The room was not bad for an overnight stay. We went to eat at the restaurant downstairs after check in with our $50 credit. Even though the restaurant was half empty the lady refused to seat us saying they were full due to reservations. it never was full for the next hour. We ate at the bar instead where the service was not any better. We ordered a Tusconey pizza with various meat on it but we got a plain pizza instead. The tables in the bar were not cleared and we had to clear them ourselves. Overall the eating experience at the restaurant was a huge disappointment.

Great renovated rooms but airport accessibility issues
Generally positive experience. Staff was mostly polite and efficient. Rooms were recently renovated and were very comfortable. Stayed at the hotel for easy access to Sydney Airport and was disappointed by the ease, convenience (about 1 every 40 min.), and cost (charge A$6) of hotel to airport transfer. Would have rated the hotel higher if not for the poor connections to the airport.

We were travelling with our 16
We were travelling with our 16 month old daughter and needed to be close to the International terminal for an early flight in the morning. This hotel was excellent for convenience, service and comfort. A portacot was brought to the room straight away, already made up! The restaurant and bar staff were very helpful, allowing me to heat up my daughter's food as there was no microwave in the room. The shuttle bus was easy and only took about 5 mins to the terminal. We paid the $6 each per adult on the hotel bill so we didn't need to have the cash ready for the driver. I would definitely stay here again.
