Solid American Standard

I was satisfied by staying in The Darling Harbor Holiday Inn maybe because I got what I needed and what I had expected. Inside of the hotel, I could not find any differences with any Holiday Inn hotel in US. Although it located in fact in Sydney?s Downtown. I got high speed Internet access that however could be less expensive (27 AUD per day if unlimited or 0.5 AUD per min). Finally, very good location of the hotel was the most important its advantage for me.

Great food

This hotel is on the edge of China Town. Every night was a new experience. Sidney can be very pricy. Food in this area was affordable. Shopping in Patty's market is your best value for getting Australian presents cheap. It is right across the street. There is also a McDonalds. If you hold your computer in the right direction or go use it in the vestibule you can get on ther free McD wifi and save yourself the 55cents a minute charged by the Holiday Inn It is an easy walk to Darling Harbor. The Maritime museum is a well worth visit and is also free .You need to book on the internet or the rooms will cost losts more.

Awesome Darling Harbor

The location was great. There were so many sites to see just around the hotel area. We were within walking distance of Darling Harbor, many restaurants, the monorail, ferries, shopping - everything was just so convenient. The staff and concierge service was above reproach. They were professional, friendly, and helpful in every way. The hotel was easy to get to by shuttle from the airport, and a shuttle was available at the hotel to take us back to the airport. If we get a chance to return to Sydney, this would be an ideal place to stay. Very convenient.

Stay

My experience at the hotel was excellent. I asked the employees for advice on places to go and how to get there and received much assistance. Some of their insight even helped me to take a different destination thta I'm quite certain I actually enjoyed more.

Very good location and service

Very good location in Darling Harbour, with Chinatown shops and restaurants right around the corner, and 10-15 minutes of walking to the Harbour, Aquarium, Wildlife, IMAX, Chinese Garden etc. Room was clean and well-serviced. I put the DND sign outside and got a call asking when I'd like the room to be cleaned. Said 3pm, and they were there at 3pm to clean the room, just as I was heading out. Quiet room to: the monorail was just below the window, but couldn't hear anything from the 8th floor. You *could* hear through the door, but all neighbors were silent. I left a laptop in the room (on the desk, not in the safe) and it remained there untouched over several cleanings. In-room internet is ridiculously expensive: $27.50 per day, with a 200MB limit. The hotel is made of concrete/brick, so not a chance of catching stray WiFi signals. The laundry service is ridiculously expensive: $7 for a t-shirt, but the laundry facility has 2 washers and 2 driers (operated by 3x $1 coins, plus $1 for a packet of detergent). Spa is small, and I'm not sure if there's a pool at all, but if there is, it's small enough to be missed. Exercise room is very small too. But if you're in Sydney to enjoy Sydney, not to stay in a hotel, these things really don't matter. Trek Sydney on foot and you'll get your exercise, and swim in the Ocean at Manly or Bondi. A note about the in-room snacks: they're VERY expensive, about twice the USA price. Buy some from convenience stores, or better yet, from Woolworths. Concierge service wasn't terribly sharp: my apartment mate had a lost luggage on their name, and when the luggage company delivered it to Holiday Inn, with my room number and name, the concierge didn't make the connection, and sent the luggage back (!). On the other hand, they took good care of calling cabs and vans for our departure at the right time.

Money-saving tip: Short walk from hotel

Buy your own breakfast and snacks from Woolworths (on the corner of George and Park): bread, jam, cheese etc. Get your own Internet access from Telstra or Optus, rather than paying $28 per day in the Hotel.

This is a great location for easy

This is a great location for easy walking around Paddy's market and Darling Harbour. Front staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast area was busy and had to wait a while to get in but the food was good. Beds were comfortable and room clean - great value

I no problems with Holiday Inn

I no problems with Holiday Inn Darling Harbour, very helpful staff and delicious breakfast. The hotel is situated in an ideal position, close to China Town, Paddy's Market and Darling Harbour. There could possibly be an improvement in the parking facilities of the hotel. First come best dressed is not good enough. The cost of the parking in the entertainment centre is way overpriced. That is my only complaint otherwise the hotel itself was excellent.
