Okay.

The staffs are friendly. The hotel itself is close to everything. Be aware of safety issues as this hotel is located in one of the most notorious areas in Sydney according to my tour book (the other area is the redfern district). The room was torn and could be significantly cleaner. Won't stay there again for the next time. It is not a hotel for families or couples. It is more suitable for guys looking for paid romance in the kings cross area.

A real disapointment

A huge disapointment. It is quite far out of town, about 45 minute walk, or 15 minutes in a cab. There are zero facilities in the hotel - no bars, no restaurants (although you can get room service). Walls paper thin. Whilst it is always interesting to hear a couple having fun next door, not all night, oh OK all night was OK. Courtyard rooms a waste of money. Overlooked, good if you are a smoker but not secure - you can climb over all the dividing walls so don't leave the door open. As the write-ups say, hotel on the edge of the red light area. Not a huge problem, but lots of sex bars, groups of men looking for "fun" quite a lot of down-and-outs wandering around. Plenty of bars and clubs. I take my hat off to the local council who are cleaning the streets at about 5am every day. They need it. Broken bottles, fast food cartons, empty beer tins lying around... oh and a good lungfull of urine and vomit. Finally cleaning of hotel room a littl suspect, and hotel a littlw dowdy

Good hotel, good price

Friendly staff. Free internet in lobby, but don't catch signal in room on 5th floor. Good location next to subway station. Not too long, but not short walk to parks and Opera House, etc. Watch out for strip clubs and hookers nearby. Somewhat shady area, but nothing to worry about. Bad lighting in rooms. They have a "trendy" version of dark colors and low lighting.

Nice Hotel

Fairly decent hotel. When I initially checked in there was an issue with the hotel cable system. The management apologized and offered all guests free internet during their stay. It was painfully slow but good to have considering most hotels in the city charge for internet usage. Furnishings were nice but you could tell they went through a lot of wear. Located near King's Cross (red light district) but I didn't hear that much noise from the crowds. Although I wasn't able to use it I think it would be nice to know that the hotel does not have its own gym but has a deal with the local gym right around the corner for guests to use free of charge. Staff was very nice and always tried their best to help me with my needs. Room service only starts after 6pm so if you stay in during the day and try to get lunch you are better off taking a walk to one of the nearby cafes. Overall a good but not great experience.

Great location, had potential

The good: The hotel is located in an area that let me explore Sydney on foot for days! The Opera House parks, warfs, and harbors were less than a 30 minute walk. I caught the hop-on/hop-off bus a block away from the front door of the hotel and figured out how close everything is. The staff was super friendly and helpful. All the common areas were clean and very modern (in a good way). The bad: There was a bit of noise from the streets due to the active nightlife in that location, but it did not hinder my sleep. The rooms are not well insulated, so if you are a light sleeper, look elsewhere. The shower design was not well thought out, so after a shower the entire bathroom floor was soaked with water spilling onto the carpeting. The Ugly: The black decor probably looked pretty slick when it was put in, but after some abuse, it shows every nick and scrape. This of course can be resolved with a black sharpie pen, but it did not appear that anyone put too much thought into the upkeep. The darkness of the room was a bit dreary, but also made for easy sleeping in the morning. There was neon green paint spilled on the black carpeting, which reminded me to wear my flip-flops(thongs) in the room... Given the conditions of the room, I think I could have found a better deal in the area. Fancy shampoo bottles did not offset the beat up furniture, carpeting and the leaky shower. The location was perfect for a first time tourist like me however, so I will consider this hotel again if I get a decent rate...

Dining tip: Short walk from hotel

Darlinghurst is full of cafe's, restaurants and clubs. Cross the street and within a block you have every type of dining, most of it quite good! The other direction is the debauchery of Kings Cross. Great place for kababs, night clubs and all the rest...

Good Hotel, Great People, No Parking

Good location for sightseeing. 6 parking spots, need to be reserved in advance. Closest parking for us was $10 cab ride and $65/night. On day 3 they let us park in one of the 6 spots. Recommend cab/subway; rent a car after you leave Sydney. Room small but comfortable. Very friendly staff.
