Horrible, horrible experience
We stayed here for a couple of nights as it looked good value and it was in the party area of Sydney (Potts Point/Kings Cross). I'd also stayed here before a few years ago and while I remember the rooms being basic they were clean and liveable. Never again. The rooms have become very run down. Firstly, the lights in the bathroom didn't work at all, the toilet was constantly filling (the noise was SO annoying), and the bed was appalling. The bed moved around the floor comically everytime you so much as moved. If you're a back-packer looking for cheap non-backpacking hotel in Sydney, fair enough, this may suffice. For me? Like I say, never again.

Good price for the location
This hotel is good for the price given its location. A short walk from Kings Cross it is handy for seeing Sydney. The hotel decor is tired but the place is clean and the staff friendly.

Good value for the money.
Staff was courteous and helpful. There is a bus stand outside the hotel, which avoids having to go to Kings Cross station.

good location for lively night life
The hotel was easy to find on a small but lively street. Plenty of late night bars and cafes for the 20-30's traveller. Only 5 min walk to the tube station or 15 minutes to walk to the heart of the city. The staff was friendly and helpful,(free storage for my bike). The room was simple and quiet (no view to inner court). Spacious bathroom with a surprise adjacent kitchenette. I felt it was good value overall.

Order a bigger room, get some space to move and avoid the $25 wifi charge, that has too many problems to begin with.

Very good budget hotel
Hotel is well located with access to public transportation very easy to go anywhere in downtown Sydney. Hotel is a little old with a few stairs to go up and down if you carry heavy luggage. Room was basic but confortable. It had a small kitchen and everything was very clean. Grocery stores very close by. I would stay there once again.

Never been to a hotel that doesn't even provide Kleenex. Bed was small and uncomfortable. Staff acted like robots, not real friendly.

Good place for price
The fabulous neighborhood and the discount price I paid made The Devere work well for me. Decor is rather shabby, but if that's not an issue for you, this is a good choice. Good complementary breakfast and friendly staff. Close to train and bus stops.
