Tiny noisy room

At first it was very hard to find, their sign was gone and a tree covered the small one on the wall. The staff were lovely and booking in was fast. We were in room 805 when we opened the door we laughed we have stayed in rooms where the bathroom was bigger. The furniture was antique or maybe just original, the bathroom door came off its run. Our bed wad like concrete with pillows to match. Our room was above the air conditioner and vents so it was so noisy. I couldn't wait to get home to sleep.

Hot, Crowded, Bumpy and Late Ride in the Shuttle Bus

Whilst I enjoyed my stay at your hotel this week you need to know that the shuttle -bus service (I realize it was not owned by the hotel, just contracted) to the airport afterwards was appalling. For a start it arrived 35 minutes late, had 3-4 pickups after mine, finished up very cramped, hot (no air conditioner) and stuffy inside, and the ride hit every bump to the airport as the bus was so old the shock absorbers were worn out. Fortunately I did not miss my flight, although their were times along the way when I thought we'd never make it. So in my opinion it's time your hotel found a new shuttle contractor with a more modern vehicle, because it spoilt the few days I had in Sydney this week.

Best value ever!

Amazing room! Amazing location! Very clean and our room was much more spacious than other reviews described. The blankets are a bit rough and the walls are a bit thin but no other complaints! The staff were very courteous and helpful. Castlereagh Boutique Hotel is definitely a hidden gem in Sydney. Best value for cost!!

Sightseeing tip: Short walk from hotel

Hyde Park is just two blocks away and the Opera House and Sydney Harbor are all about a 25 minute walk. The fish market is also about a 25 minute (brisk) walk as well!

Perfect Location and Price

The room was quite small, however it was perfect for our overnight stay. Very clean and check-in was very smooth. Perfect location, right in the heart of the city. I don't think you could get better value for what we paid.

Worst decision ever

When I went to check-in, the concierge at that time was very rude. Had to wait for him to finish playing on his computer before tending to me. When I finally checked-in and got in the room, it was extremely small. The pictures you see on the website are not that of a "standard double" room. In fact it is half of it. When I went to request an extra towel at the reception, the same concierge made me wait once more and then proceeded to argue that there were already two towels in the bathroom whereas my request was for a third towel. The hotel does not restock the bathroom essentials (shampoo/soap/shower cap) daily. The hotel does not have key card access and requires intercom requests stating name and room number. All in all, apart from the location, the hotel and the one concierge I dealt with was horrendous. Not a hotel worth 127 a night. Hope this has helped ppl.
