Low cost hotel with friendly service near Darling Harbour

The former Aspen Hotel has been rebranded as the Aspire Hotel Sydney. Simple interiors deemed as retro by insiders offer a comfortable stay with friendly service.  A fine option for travelers on a budget, Aspire Hotel offers a convenient location on a quiet street near Darling Harbour, the Powerhouse Museum, Chinatown and public transportation to the central business district and beyond. Aspire Hotel promises ease for leisure and business travelers.

Rooms

The hotel's 96 guest rooms are a throwback to the 1970s, featuring retro-style bedding and furniture that offer plenty of comfort. All rooms include private balconies (some with views), spotless bathrooms, a refrigerator and air conditioning. All rooms are non-smoking. Décor favors blues and browns, with flowered bedding and dark wood furniture. The hotel offers a work desk and Wi-Fi (fees apply).

Cheap price for room and breakfast,

Cheap price for room and breakfast, quiet location, decent size room/bathroom and even included a balcany. No TV remote though. Will stay here again.

Start of a Month Down Under

Staff does not the area very well. Thought the added charge for a credit card was tacky. Should include it in the room price! Only brekfast available there.

Worst place. Will never go again.

The room was way below average and the A/C unit makes a loud noise, many things were wrong. Unfriendly cleaning staff and front desk has no information about any thing that a traveller may need. Terrible mistake of selecting this place. Prior reviews was a big part on my decision and so I am writing this for future customers not to spend even one minute in thinking about this hotel. There is not one thing that is good. I am not going to list everthing that was wrong since it will be a very long list.

Sightseeing tip: In Hotel

AAT Kings company offers tours to Canberra, wild life tour and serene Tranquilty of Australia. We went on two tours and is well worth the money and they pick up and drop off from this hotel so it is convenient. There is a LAVAZZA coffee place one and half blocks away has good food to suite American taste but may not have any pancakes/waffles. They are open only from 7 am to 5 pm on monday to fridays. Kind of weird when you are vacationing, but good food.

In poor shape

I would never stay at this hotel again. The beds are worn out, There are only 4 tv stations. They charge you for everything, and there is not a airport shuttle.

Good Location, thats about it

Literally, 5 minute walk from the beginning of Darling Harbor and Paddy’s Market. Rooms were ok but very old and it had a dungy feeling to it. Be prepared to pay for everything and everything is expensive. If you can find a hotel about the same price somewhere close, I suggest you take it. I would not recommend, unless you could not afford anything else in the area.

This is a good budget hotel close

This is a good budget hotel close to Darling Harbour. The rooms are a good size and its an easy walk into the city or monorail station. The beds are a little soft and worn but the linen and place is clean. If they renovated this place it would be a real gem!

The staff were so frendly and

The staff were so frendly and helpful. They did everything with a smaile! The location was so peaceful and as such unique in such a busy town. I am looking forward to staying again!

The hotel staff were friendly

The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The location is very convenient for moving around the many attractions and shopping. Overall, reasonable rate in a great quiet location.
