Great hotel, amazing location!

Would recommend Mon, Dec 29, 2014
Upon arrival we were disappointed that our room wasn't ready (think we were about 1 hr early) however this was the only thing we could fault. The receptionist assisted in viewing potential room upgrades however none took our fancy. The rest of the trip went without a hitch. We ate in the hotel one evening and although we missed the buffet there was a fabulous seafood platter on the menu and the service was fantastic. The location is also second to none.

Excellent location, facilities and staff

Would recommend Sat, Jul 12, 2014
Highly recommend this great hotel. Only drawback is, as in any other hotel, the cost of the amenities -extremely overpriced Internet, breakfast, etc.

Entertainment hint

Great performance of Rigoletto at the Sydney Opera House!

A very good place for a pre-cruise stay

Would recommend Tue, Apr 1, 2014
We stayed one night at Amora Hotel before starting our 18 day cruise. Hotel is conveniently located close to the Cruise terminal, and within walking distance from attractions like Opera House, Royal Botanic Garden, Westfield Sydney Tower. Room was compact but comfortable. It was nice to find a glass enclosed shower stall. They even provided robes and slippers. The staff was courteous and efficient. They held our luggage and let us walk in the town before the room was ready. Concierge gave us a map and directions. We did not use the in-house restaurants.

Attractions

Royal Botanic Garden with majestic trees on one side and Sydney Harbor view on the other is beautiful and is worth spending at least half a day.

Good location for Sydney City

Would recommend Mon, Mar 24, 2014
No real complaints. Could not really state that this is 5 star tho, to be honest. Room was of basic standard. Staff good. Location good. An excellent base to explore the city from - 10 mins walk to circular quay, and the same for The Rocks area.

Fabulous Hotel - Great Location

Would recommend Sat, Dec 14, 2013
The Amora Hotel, located in the Central Business District (CBD), in Sydney was a very pleasant surprise! With a great reputation in the city as a 5-star hotel, my stay there was 5-star as well.

Dining

Check out The Emperor's Choice Chinese Restaurant just a short walk around the corner. Located below another store, it's a hidden gem serving up great food.

Overpriced and poor standards!

Would not recommend Tue, Feb 7, 2012
Stayed a week here just. Lived and stayed in Sydney many times, this hotel is NOT 5*, it would be 3 Only! Housekeeping staff are over-stretched, and stressed. Bed linen rarely changed unless you ask, beds not made properly with sheets hanging over, single mattress protectors on a double bed. Bathroom fittings are rusting and dusty. Light switches very old, cannot put light on in bathroom until you in and look behind folding door, impossible in the dark Terrible storage capacity in room, filled with useless hotel placed things, so we had to move things out and place them above the wardrobe to fit clothes in draws and have some decent space. Rooms are behind the times, carpets need cleaning, Aircon thick with dust and grime, lift panels faulty, look above you and you see months of flies and dirt in the lift lights! Urgh! Maintaining a hotel to a standard appears a problem here. Amora is Thai owned, but fails to meet their Asian standards. It does NOT sit in the Marriott, Sofitel, Four Seasons, Swissotel range which are 5*, yet they want the same rates. Disappointing, misleading, and i would Not recommend nor stay here again. Basic hygiene, proper housekeeing and Maintaining, are a sign of very poor management, with poor knowledge of their staff and hotel. The basics are not met here.

Best Hotel in Sydney

Would recommend Thu, Jul 15, 2010
The staff was wonderful and the room was great. The location is spot on, walking distance to both the Opera House and Darling Habor is about 10 mins. Taking the train to and from both the domestic and international airports is very easy, it drops you off a block from the hotel at the Wynyard station. You can buy a weekly pass for bus, trains and ferry's for 59.00 dollars.

Stylish, convenient comfort in the city

Would recommend Sun, Jun 27, 2010
The Amora has it all, very stylish decor with a warm and inviting atmosphere, excellent staff and services, spacious (corner) rooms with great views, and a perfect location - walking distance to The Rocks, Circular Quay/Opera House/Botanical Gardens and Darling Harbour yet set away from the crowded tourist areas. The only negatives were the lack of cafes/restaurants open on weekend mornings within a two black radius (plenty in more touristy areas) and they need to replace the window shades that are falling apart. But the positives far outweigh the negatives.

Dining

If you're there on a weekend, get they're breakfast special - it's excellent and there's not much else close by.

Amora Jamison Hotel

Would recommend Wed, Jun 9, 2010
Well located within walking distance of Circular Quay. We had a great room on the "Jamison Club" level, which included club lounge facilities: continental breakfast, evening canapes and drinks. In-room broadband internet was included, but there was no wi-fi available. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms with separate shower and tub, spacious and clean. We have stayed at this hotel a number of times in the past, and it just keeps getting better. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
