Sufficient... Does the job

I came here eyes wide open after reading reviews. This hotel is for someone who doesnt want to break the bank, but still stay in a "prime" area of Aruba at a decent place. This is not the Ritz Carlton, but its a decent boutique hotel. I basically wanted somewhere to sleep after running the streets everyday. This served the purpose. Rooms arent too fancy, basic furniture, on a great strip in the High Rise area. Lots of restaurants, hotels, little shops/street vendors, nice little outdoor malls all within walking distance. Bus stops right outside, free internet, not crazy fast, but sufficient. I cant speak on the pool, etc, but again, Im sure its sufficent. Since the hotel is right across the street from beach side hotels, to get to it, just cross the street and walk to the rear of the hotels and youre there. Free Continental Breakfast (little basket with a slice of toast, a cupcake, a slice of cake, a little croissant and some grapes, along with OJ and tea or coffee). Decent, but you may want to order something to go with it. As a grown man it was not enough to fill my belly, but hey its free. Again, this is not the Ritz Carlton, but if you want a clean, decent place to stay in a nice little busy strip in Aruba, nothing fancy but does the job, go for it.

Week away with the g/f

We had a very pleasant experience at this hotel. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Rooms were a bit small, but always cleaned and maintained. They even brought us a fridge to the room at no extra charge. We noticed that the maid would come in three times a day to tidy up, leave fresh ice and Hershey kisses each time. The restaurant that they give you the free breakfast was subpar at best (a basket of bread, muffins, etc.), but if you are on the run and want to get a quick bite it does the job. There are tons of quality restaurants, shopping, bars, and casinos all within a 5 minute walking distance, ideal whether or not you decide to rent a car. Sure, you aren't on the beach here and not in the most modern of hotels, but the $200-300/night you save by making the one block walk to the beach definitely justifies it on a semi-fixed budget.

If your not picky

The hotel lobby was nice, newly updated but the front desk area was cramped and we often had to wait in line for the staff to hand us towels while they were checking in other guests. The room itself needs some attention to detail. The doors and trim were really cheap looking, our main door was warped creating a big gap and the frame where the lock was attached was cracked. The air conditioning unit was rusty and was locked down, no option to change the temperature and the windows were screwed shut! No chance to feel the breeze or warm tropical air. The refrigerator was dented and abused, rusty and dirty, we didn't feel comfortable using it. The sheets and towels always had brown stains on them. They don't fill the swim up portion of the pool and the seatin areas with shade were always reserved, for no one, and the cushions were filthy. The continental breakfast was okay, of your not big on breakfast. The service was slow and fairly lathargic.

Lacking in accommodations / Friendly Staff

Overall a nice place outward... Inside could use help. The room had a safe that was not bolted down but after one call they came and mounted it. The ac unit was not clean and the shower was horrible... Water would not drain even after two calls and attempts at having it fixed... We stood in drain water that spilled over into the tiny bathroom. On returning from the beach the third day we were delayed meeting friends for dinner due to not having any towels in the room! The gym was small and the pictures of it deceiving as the walls were all mirrored. A total of 4 machines inches away from each other. The Staff was friendly, continental breakfast was a delight served by the adjoining restaurant and it's location is central to all. It's a shame the amenities were sub par otherwise Brickell Bay would have been a return destination for us.

You get what you pay for.

We didn't expect beachfront amenities and service, but instructions for the safe would be nice. Water leaking from the shower,I hope it was a shower, should have been fixed the first time. Maybe they should have switched our room. Water leaked on our heads while we were on the toilet. Two nights! I guess it's just managed like a 3 star hotel. If you go expecting that, it is a good value and right in the middle of the restaurants. Of course it wasn't beachfront, but we knew that and the beach is a short walk. (3 mins) Not much worse than dealing with some of the further rooms at the beachfront hotels. We had full use of the lounges on the beach and Marcela lent us a cooler which was pretty nice to have. Believe it or not, for the savings we'd probably go back if its just us. My wife and I have high tolerance for pain but wouldn't want to subject our friends or family to it.

Decent Hotel for the price

Overall, I don't have any complaints about the hotel. It was clean and close to the beach. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. I didn't have hot water on the first night but that was promptly fixed after I mentioned it to the the front desk.

Sleepless in Aruba

I wish that I could rate this hotel better, I really do. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and nice (except the drain in the shower that basically never went down), the location is perfectly situated a block from the beach in between the major hotel chains in the area. We just took being able to sleep for granted... The problem is that my wife and I were kept awake every single night until about 3am from the DJ blasting his loud, pulsating music. It was absolutely ridiculous. The hotel said there is nothing they can do, and I actually witnessed the night manager ask security to ask them to turn it down, yet nothing happened. Every morning I complained to the hotel and every night nothing changed (5 nights). The DJ is located at the hotel's pool bar (the Sandbar). As a former hotel guest, I felt like the owner values his outdoor nightclub more than he values his hotel guests. If you are going to Aruba to stay out partying late into the night/early morning and sleep in, then this might be for you. But, if you going to Aruba to relax, stay somewhere else.

Good location but not recommended

Location was perfect every activity was 5-10 min away. Front desk prompt and good reply but room service was not good Not recommended because: Locker not working initially. I did not do room service till it got fixed. Wrong information on how to use to locker made things more confusing till it got fixed. Toilet got clogged. I cannot call room service as m y locker was not fixed. Cannot control AC from room. The controller is locked using a lock and key. All these things did got fix after talking to receptionist. But On last day before leaving we ran out of toilet rolls and other basic things. I had to wait for 30-45 minute and after 4th call to front desk when it was hard to wait, they told we already put things in your bathroom yesterday night. Before loosing tempor I only told them "I need it now" and finally room service did gave things what requested. NO water back up. Day before leaving they had some water isssues in morning which led to no water for like 60-90 minutes. I had rented a car but was not needed as most of things near by. I had to go to do snorkel which was 5 minutes walking. I was happy that receptionist told us that you can get a free ride from our people which will take 30-45 seconds to reach to destination using electic van. When i went to see that guy; I requested where i had to go then he told me "who told you to get this ride? I told receptionist booked my activicty. And he gave a bad look to receptionist. I did not need it I could have paid a taxi if wanted to, but it was not welcoming. Like i said location was good other things ok. Breakfast was good too

Good price

The hotel is at a very good location, you are close to the other hotels, casinos and restaurants. The beach is 5 minutes away but if you don´t want to walk, the hotel has shuttle service. When you arrive they will give you vouchers for a welcome drink and casinos. Free wireless at the lobby and BIG breakfast included (Really, they give a great big breakfast) The not-very-positive thing was that one staff at the front desk couldn´t give information about the buses and cab prices, but the website of the buses was the way to go! When another staff was at the front desk he went to the computer and printed the schedule for me (That was great for the ride back to the hotel) Another not-very-positive was the humidity inside the room. The walls were literary sweating. It got better after turning off the AC the second night.
