Happy Relaxing Couple
Incredible week!!!
My husband and I took this last minute vacation with the intention of just wanting to relax and do pretty much nothing. We first checked into the Marina portion and had an "okay" room with a nice view of the pool and the ocean. Dinner at LG Steak House was phenomenal as was breakfast the next morning at the Aquarius. However, everything started to fall apart in the afternoon when we heard construction drilling that pounded through our ceiling totally shattering the peace and tranquility. My husband called the front desk and received amazing service from Esmerelda who quickly moved us to an absolutely heaveny balcony room at the Ocean Suites side. The room and the view were both totally amazing and we were able to finish our week there getting the beautiful experience we were originally hoping for. Everything was perfect and we highly recommend this hotel to give you what they promise!! All of the staff were incredible - they were on their game at both locations and were all incredibly helpful and friendly at all times (one happy island personified!!!).

Family or Couples
Definitely a great value. My sister and I felt safe here, but we wondered where the other guests were. We were in Aruba the first week of January, which may explain the quiet. We did not stray far from the hotel, so we were a little tired of the dining options, and it does have a bit of the Disney World feel that it's all made for tourists. We don't usually stay at resorts. There is a lot of shopping within the complex, and it is nice that the hotel is not huge--it feels manageable. On the private island beach, you definitely feel spoiled being waited on while you sit at your chair, but the airport is close and sometimes you can hear and see the planes coming and going. We had a fun, low-key vacation, but couples, families and groups of friends would love the ease of the hotel--and would feel better about venturing around town.

Money-saving tip:
Short walk from hotel
It was easy for us to find a local supermarket to buy some bottles of water and snacks for our stay. The mini-fridge is not stocked and the water in the room is a pricey $4.50.

Always enjoy this hotel
This was our 2nd time at the Renaissance, and I recommend it for those who normally would stay at the strip a few miles away. The exclusive use of their private island is a major incentive. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and did their best to alleviate the effects of tropical storm Omar (flooding and occasional loss of electricity.) The hotels (there are 2: marina side and oceanside) have many fine shops on site and their restaurants offer excellent meals at reasonable prices. You're also close to many other nice bar/restaurants, grocery stores, etc., so you can easily spend a week here without needing a car.

very relaxing
the island is amazing and makes this otherwise somewhat bland hotel totally worth it. Front desk staff were oddly incompetent, however all the other staff were great. The rooms don't have balconies but they are nice and the beds are really comfortable.

Wonderful location
The resort was very relaxing, not beach front but just as nice. construction going on for our entire visit which made it hard to sleep and take naps during the day. The location was right downtown in the middle of everything. Close to great shopping and good restaurants. Hotel staff provided us with everything we need for our 1 year anniversary.

Bit of A Disappointment
The Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino is located right in downtown Aruba and NOT on the beach, so if the beach is what you are looking for this is not the hotel for you. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel is clean. However, our room was outdated and the bathroom was extremely tiny and not well kept. The vanity sink overflowed and it was impossible to regulate the water temperature in the shower. Also, during the night you could hear pipes running and doors slamming, not good for the weary!

Average hotel
The Renaisance hotel was fine, but not amazing. Location is good and the boat to the island is amazing, as is the island itself. However, if it wasn't for renaissance island I would have been unhappy with my choice of hotel. The rooms are small an the romms which look into the mall are very dark. I was also disappointed with the service. I ordered a wine and cheese platter on our arrival as it was a special trip for me and my husband, and as a cheese 'platter' we received a lump of unopened gouda and a pack of unopened crackers ! And got charged $40 + service charge + tip for the pleasure!

Close to airport
If you are looking for a hotel in the city, next to shopping, this is a good location. The hotel also has a private island for guests...the only thing is that it is near the airport so there will be planes flying overhead as you are lounging...

My review of Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino
Renaissance Aruba Resort and Casino,Was in the middle of downtown Aruba. The Resort was clean but could have been a little better. Most of the hotel staff are nice but some could use more customer service training. If i was to stay at this Resort again it would be on the beach side. The Renaissance has its own privet beach that is very nice. But it is right next to the airport runway. So you can hear air plains taking off and landing all day long.
