Grea long weekend trip

We just went for a long weekend getaway. The hotel had an excellent location-loved the private island. It was nice just riding the boat each day to get there. The only downside is that we were across the street from the ocean. Hotel was great but the rooms were average.

Great time in Aruba

Hotel is located in the center of Oranjestad and is very close to everything. While they do not have a beach, they do have a man made lagoon and beautiful and clean grounds and pool at the hotel. Their beach is a private island, 8 minute boat ride from the hotel and we enjoyed snorkeling at the beach and hanging out there. Rooms are definitely dated although everything else made up for it. Food and drinks are expensive at the hotel.

Once again- Excellent

This was our second year at the Renaissance and it was great once again. The location is terrific- access to terrific restaurants. Love the happy hours at The Marina and even better at the Suites. The private beach is paradise. This year we brought our 18 year old twins and they liked everything about the experience as well. (Except the didn't go to happy hour, Thank God)

Good Stay

Very comfortable, pretty old crowd. Aruba in general seems like a much older crowd, not the best location if you are young.

Nice acomodations, nice private island

Hotel was clean and pleasant. Location in Oranjestad is a minus, as most of the "action" and nice beaches are in the high-rise area. However, the private island, though small, is very relaxing and not too crowded. Getting to Eagle and Palm beach areas is easy using the excellent Arubus bus service or a taxu (approx. $11).

Private beach....Heaven!

I was pleasantly surprised by the hotel as a whole although the original reason we booked was the private beach. The boat that took you to the beach from the lobby INSIDE the hotel was an unexpected added incentive. We were provided with a decent sized room that did not overlook the street - by request that serviced everyday. Negative.....having to pay for internet service and less than friendly staff. I think the fact that we spoke Spanish helped, but the staff constantly made it a point to steer you toward more expensive, hotel related options. We did not choose the all-inclusive option, or rent a car which may have been a mistake. The food in nearby places was overpriced and actually not very good - except the L.G. Smith Steak & Chop house. Priced as any other steakhouse, but good service and good food. In order to get anywhere that may have had better food/prices, you had to take a cab (20 US dollars back and forth), or get information for the bus that would take you out of the downtown area - unless you wanted theme restaurants like Wendy's or Burger King. We also did the scuba diving tour which I thought wasn't really all that. The crew was rude and acted as if they were doing us a favor by being there. I wouldn't do that again.

This hotel has THE BEST beach!

The private beach makes the hotel worth it. The beach is a short boat ride away and it is paradise. There are flamingos and iguanas walking around, food and beverages are served on the beach, and there are beach activities if you are so inclined or you can just lie inthe sun and swim in the crystal clear water! The Aquarius Cafe in the resort and casino has AM and PM buffets that are out of this world. The rooms are okay- nothing great.

Satisfied

Nice hotel, clean, friendly staff. Pretty pool area at the Marina. Nice quiet private island, however visited the on the beach high rise hotels and the water was much nicer, but beaches much more crowded. Would like to stay at one of the more exclusive high rise (like the Palms) next time.
