Great value

Overall, it was a decent value. There were a few things that were awesome and a few that could be improved upon. #1 - There was a private island owned by the hotel, and you catch the boat to the island right in the lobby. SO FUN! The island has a nature trail on it and we saw so many lizards, hermit crabs, and tropical fish. I loved this! (It is a nice gesture to tip the boat driver...I do not think many people do.) #2 - Starbucks in the lobby :) Enough said. #3 - I am not a fan of fluctuating water temperature. When I set it, I expect it to stay. I don't know what caused this, or if it was isolated to my room, but it would go from warm, to hot (I had to step back to avoid being burned), back to warm, and then cool (again - step back so I did not freeze). Repeat for duration of shower. It was no fun showering in the morning but did not seem as wild in the late afternoon. #4 - We had a couple's massage which was a very nice experience. However, the spa was located adjacent to the pool area and the pool music/acoustic singer that happened to be playing over-powered the relaxing mood music. Eeek. The spa needs to have the right atmosphere. I hope this gets fixed. #5 - Most hotels provide 1 - 2 small bottles of water each day. This one did not. However, there was a refrigerator so we stocked up on beverages at the local supermarket which was right across the street. Overall, it was a great get-away and just what the doctor ordered to beat the winter blues. Thank you.

Sightseeing tip: Short drive from hotel

Definitely plan to rent a car or jeep for at least one day and drive around the island. You get to see and do so much and it is not that difficult to navigate. You can always follow the tour buses or the other jeeps if you get lost. The one day we took to drive around was our most memorable and most fun. In addition, the helicopter ride was a little pricey but well worth it. Bring a video camera or a regular camera that records video for the helicopter ride. Unforgettable!

Amazing Hotel Amazing Vacation

This hotel was amazing! After booking it we were concerned about not staying on Palm/Eagle beach but after visiting the beach area we were so glad we didn't. This hotel has everything that you could ask for and more...amazing private island, great pools, casino, friendly staff, very comfortable beds, and close to many great restaurants. We will definitely be back again soon!

Grea long weekend trip

We just went for a long weekend getaway. The hotel had an excellent location-loved the private island. It was nice just riding the boat each day to get there. The only downside is that we were across the street from the ocean. Hotel was great but the rooms were average.

Great time in Aruba

Hotel is located in the center of Oranjestad and is very close to everything. While they do not have a beach, they do have a man made lagoon and beautiful and clean grounds and pool at the hotel. Their beach is a private island, 8 minute boat ride from the hotel and we enjoyed snorkeling at the beach and hanging out there. Rooms are definitely dated although everything else made up for it. Food and drinks are expensive at the hotel.

Once again- Excellent

This was our second year at the Renaissance and it was great once again. The location is terrific- access to terrific restaurants. Love the happy hours at The Marina and even better at the Suites. The private beach is paradise. This year we brought our 18 year old twins and they liked everything about the experience as well. (Except the didn't go to happy hour, Thank God)

Good Stay

Very comfortable, pretty old crowd. Aruba in general seems like a much older crowd, not the best location if you are young.

Nice acomodations, nice private island

Hotel was clean and pleasant. Location in Oranjestad is a minus, as most of the "action" and nice beaches are in the high-rise area. However, the private island, though small, is very relaxing and not too crowded. Getting to Eagle and Palm beach areas is easy using the excellent Arubus bus service or a taxu (approx. $11).
