You must have patience during peak hours. The wait staff is attentive but take a bit longer to deliver a cocktail than say in a NYC establishment. Also, be sure to lock up valuables in your room safe.

Unique all-inclusive experience
My husband and I stayed (along with 3 other couples) at the Renaissance this past week. What a fantastic week! We have stayed at other all-inclusive hotels in the past in various places (RIU and Iberostar) and those were all great, however this was a completely different experience. You got the convienence of an all-inclusive, but the feel of a trendy down-town hotel. We stayed at the Marina section of the hotel, which is adults only and their bar and pool area were phenomenal. Also, we very much liked the way they had their food as well where you weren't stuck with a bunch of buffets to chose from, you were able to order off an actual menu with actual service. The staff was very courteous and extrememly helpful. The woman who checked us in was particularly helpful and changed our room no problem at all so that we could be on the same floor as the other couples. The private island is beautiful, the food there was just OK but they make up for that in beautiful lagoons and lots of chairs and hammocks. The Ocean Suites was also very nice, they had a much bigger pool with the swim-up bar and Sole restaurant had awesome lunches. I would also like to say how delicious the food was at Blue bar and also the L.G. steakhouse (which we ate at 3 times!). The steakhouse in particular had outstanding service. All in all we had a wonderful experience and if we travel to Aruba again, we will without a doubt be staying at the Renaissance!

Fabulous Vacation Getaway
Renaissance Aruba was an amazing experience. We booked the All inclusive option and it was great. There were many different food options to choose from and we ate endless amounts of seafood which was awesome especially if you're a seafood lover. Food was definitely the best i had in an all inclusive resort. The staff was friendly and the drinks were perfect. The PRIVATE Island is a must do! it is beautiful and the experience was just wonderful, the boat ride is only a short 5minute trip.Overall just be prepared to have plenty of cash handy especially if your a shopper because there are plenty designers stores in the mall in the hotel as well as jewelry shops. I will definitely recommend this hotel. If you are young in your 20's like me and my bf just take a short cab ride to the high rise areas and be sure to visit Confessions night club. There are also plenty of bars.

Disappointment
The boat to the private island was nice however the flies at the beach were terrible. The food at the Aquarius was good for breakfast, LG Smith steakhouse, steaks were tough and grizzly. Get rid of the signing for every meal, drink and go to wristbands for heaven's sake. No smoking policy in the rooms is not posted on web and should be and there is no complimentary shuttle from the airport.

Coming From Michigan
Not What It Was Five Years Ago
This world economy has found many of us having to make changes and "pinch" pennies more than we are use to...unfortunately so has the Renaissance Hotel and Casino. Our overall 7 day stay was very comforting...but then again how could constant 84 degree weather not be. Had it not been for the private island that we so looked forward to I believe we would have checked out early. The detail we noticed 5 years ago was not present this trip. There were dirty floors everywhere that were required of simply a broom and dustpan. The staff was courteous but fewer spoke English than in the past which was annoying. The "all inclusive" was limited and you were asked everywhere you dined if you were "all inclusive" as the availablilty was not the same as non "all inclusive" patrons. This was very disappointing as I feel almost 7,000 USD for one week stay was a bit much only to be limited. We will read more reviews and seek out a new hotel for our next visit to Aruba as I don't think that the island alone is enough to make us visit the Renaissance again. Five years ago we would have easily given it a four star rating but this time around we can only give it a 3-1/4.

Great couples spot
They need more wait staff who I pitied because they were overwhelmed, but that may be because it was around New Years. It was beautiful and clean and the adult side of the private island was exceptional.
