Expect to be Disappointed... If Not Robbed

Would not recommend Fri, Mar 15, 2013
Let me start out by verifying that previous comments posted are all correct, including that the grout in the bathroom is grungy and the metal fixtures are rusty. After having seen pictures of the hotel online, we were really surprised to find towels that were very thin and threadbare with actual holes! The whirlpool bathtub is noticeably old and the jets are weak. The contemporary design is an excuse for cheap furniture. You won't have a comfortable sofa, but something that resembles a hand-constructed "bunk" with pillows, reminiscent of your college days. Design Suites lists a coffeemaker in each room on their list of amenities. Actually, it is NOT a coffeemaker, but a cheap, plastic espresso machine. You will find four packs of prepackaged espresso pods, and packets of sugar and powder milk in a drawer. The espresso machine makes weak and watered down coffee. BUT HERE'S THE REAL KICKER ... Although the espresso packs are kept separately from the snacks/drinks in the hotel mini bar, we were shocked to find that we were charged 25 pesos for two such packs!!! The person at the front desk stated that the coffee is a "bar item." According to the current U.S. exchange rate, this works out to approx. $5.00 for two such weak, prepackaged coffees. Moreover, we were charged for a bottle of water which we did not consume! This charge was removed off our bill after we disputed it. Don't let the picture of the swimming pool on the hotel's website fool you, as it is only "decoration." Besides, it is not much bigger than three bathtubs so one couldn't really swim in it anyway. One does NOT receive a hot breakfast everyday...unless by a "hot breakfast" they mean the coffee or tea. Breakfast is an assortment of cereals, breads, cake, a sliced deli meat and cheese, and two pitchers of yogurt. On weekends, the staff adds scrambled eggs, sliced hot dogs in a tomato sauce (gross), and small, dry, overcooked potato squares. The staff acts like they don't want to be there, and they really don't care to be bothered by assisting you. So don't expect any smiles or warm welcomes. But the icing on the cake was our missing three cartons of cigarettes which we had purchased upon our arrival to Argentina, in the duty free shops at the airport. We discovered these missing when we were packing our suitcases for the return trip home. Although a safe is provided in the room and one is encouraged to use it, we did not think it necessary to put cigarettes in the safe. Lesson learned.

Modern, nice small hotel, not great.

Would not recommend Fri, May 8, 2009
We only stayed one night at the hotel. It was modern and nice looking, the room was a good size. The hotel is pretty small I think, at least it feels that way. The room had a microwave and small sink. I had read that you could hear everything that was going on outside the room and it's true. You can hear the people in the next room when they're moving around, coughing, and some noise from outside too. We stayed two nights at the Design Suites in Bariloche and the experience was much better. People there were a lot nicer and accommodating; but Bariloche is a totally different experience. I highly recommend DS in Bariloche though! I don't think I would stay here again. I guess the location was good, only a couple of blocks from Santa Fe Ave. where there are a lot of stores and places to eat. But since we only stayed one night I really don't know how good was the location. They let us stay until 2pm the day of check-out free of charge, because our flight was late at night. They would have charged us half the rate if we wanted to stay until 6pm.
