The difference of lodging within the Natural Reserve is mainly the real contact with nature, the song of birds, the sound of the leaves moved by the wind, and the mystery of the forest that embraces everything.
La Cantera Jungle Lodge was built having in mind the preservation of the setting and thinking that the impact on the place had to be very little. Within the three acres of the property there are trees that are more than 400 years old (Caa Fstola) and others that are protected as they are about to be extinted (Palo Rosa). The Lodge is characterized for being an innovating, exclusive and sophisticated proposal, with the goal of offering first level services and betting for a real approach to each host.
Note: Till July 2011, the hotel will be increasing its capacity with a new building construction far from the actual hotel location. This work is being done taking into consideration our clients' wellbeing and the preservation of the environment

Nice room but don't look for luxury. Excellent staff. Good breakfast. Nice pool. Average dinner but very good live music with it. They tried hard to make for a pleasant experience and by and large were very successful.

Great - If you're going to Iguazu this is the place to stay at.
We loved our stay in the hotel. The location is great, very serene and surrounded with nature. The pool is cool and the rooms are nice, big and clean. The staff is very relaxed and the wine and food selection is good, all in all a great place to stay and just disconnect from the world. Make sure you try the mousse "dulce de leche" . The only down-side is that you will be a bit far from the Iguazu national park, and getting there will cost you 200 pesos (just the transportation) and they only accept cash for this service. So, if you are planning to go there every day, add 200 pesos (aprox 50 usd) to your budget. Finally, although I went there with my g/f, I did notice a lot of single girl tourist staying in the hotel. Don't know if this is usual, but....

Relaxing Getaway in the Jungle
This hotel was amazing! From the friendly hardworking staff to the beautiful setting to the delicious food, La Cantera is located in a perfect relaxing setting after full exhausting days exploring the falls. It is secluded, down a dirt road, so having a car helps. However, we did not and walked the 1 1/4 miles to the main road and caught the local bus (cheap!) to both the falls and el centro. We ate both nights there, and the food was 5* and reasonable. It was great having your own private screened porch (no insects) to relax. The pool setting was great too. The staff is very helpful and are constantly working to keep it clean and free of spiders (it is the jungle after all!). Would definitely stay there again!

Sightseeing tip:
Short walk from hotel
To get to the Argentine side of the falls, the local bus on the main road takes you there for 10 pesos per person ($2.50 USD) each way. You just have to walk to the main road around one and 1/4 miles. Depending on your stamina, this is either a short or long walk.

Not your typical hotel
We really enjoyed our stay at La Cantera. The staff was very hospitable and offered many tips in making the most of our stay there. The downtown is more than walking distance, but we didn't mind paying the 2 pesos for the bus or the 30 pesos for the taxi/remis. This hotel is one of the newest hotels in the area (about 2yrs) and feels kind of isolated from the rest of the city, which to us was a nice feeling. If you're looking for convenient access to the downtown or the waterfalls, this is probably not the place for you. But if you want to walk or bike through the jungle, visit the local natives, go on a horseback tour, definitely stay here!

Money-saving tip:
Long walk from hotel
If you don't mind a 20-30 min walk, you can save money by taking "El Practico" (aka. City Bus) into town and to the Cataratas (aka. Waterfalls). From downtown to La Cantera Lodge by taxi shouldn't cost you more than 35 pesos, so if anyone tries to charge you more, go to the next taxi/remis. Most of the taxi stations post their rates publicly and they are a secure form of transportation - unlike in Buenos Aires where they try to slip you fake bills.

Terrific Eco-jungle atmosphere
Toured iguazu falls national park which was an awsomw experience, rode dirt bikes which were free. Had two wonderful dinners at the lodge which I hardly ever do as I am an exploring foodie. Breakfast was just ok but dinners were fabulous.
