A relief
The room we originally booked in Buenos Aires in Palerrmo Soho was extremely noisy, the shower a torture and to cap it off, there was a large cucaracha in the bathroom when we got up the next morning. Thanks to an iPhone and this site we found this place reserved, and shot over by cab. A delight. So clean, with everything we needed and in a great area. The staff were exceedingly helpful and the cleaning ladies so nice and efficient we left a tip for them.

Spacious, nice, and noisy
We were very impressed with Ayres de Recoleta when we first got there - the room was very spacious, the kitchen and breakfest area were very nice, the closet was large, and the room was clean and well-equipped. We enjoyed the daily breakfast delivered to the room, although we would have liked some variety rather than the same exact breakfast tray every morning. We were on Floor 1 (what Americans would call the second floor), and had a significant amount of noise from the room next door, above, and the workspace below. Our neighbors weren't noisy, but we could clearly hear everything the housekeepers were doing, every chair moving, every footstep, etc. This was rather distracting in the mornings, and bothersome at night. Apart from the noise factor, we were very impressed with the space at AdR, and thought the service was adequate although not exemplary[...]lists a promotion of "Free Internet" - the hotel interpreted that to mean free internet on their computers in the lobby, NOT "Free WiFi" as you would assume. WiFi is US $7 a day.

Good value, nice staff
We were in BA for a 10-day vacation. It was our first visit. I booked online through Orbitz and read the recommendations of others before booking. We truly enjoyed our stay. This hotel is located 1/2 block from the Recoletta Cemetary and all the restaurants that line its perimeter. There is also a big cinema with about 17 screens that we used to fill our down time and catch up on movies, too. They're the most incredible cinemas you've ever experienced, too. Recoletta is very popular these days. There are a number of good restaurants of great value (Roti Bar is one) throughout the neighborhood. The hotel was just fine. At least as good as our expectations and probably better. The staff is English speaking and always helpful. Our BA friends stopped to see our room and were quite impressed as well. I would return and recommend it to friends. If you want a "downtown location", you're better off at the Marriott. But we did not find ourselves at a disadvantage by being in Recoletta.

When visiting BA, one must be mindful of the fact that this is a big city, not unlike LA in size. Keep your eyes open and always be "streetwise" as, with any large city, there are those who would take advantage of you (pickpockets, scammers, etc.). While there are quite a few homeless (very much like pre-Guiliani New York), they're mostly harmless and in need of a little help, like a Peso, if you have one to spare. The best way to introduce yourselves to BA is to take a city tour when you arrive. Contact the Marriott hotel for the little excursions that they offer. The tours are well priced and operate for about 12 people at the most.

Location is great and well priced, but ...
When we checked in the air conditioner did not work. We told them but nothing was done. Many hours later we asked to be located to another room, which was done and it was comfortable there. We went 3 blocks away for breakfast in 2 different facilities. No hot meals available but the choices for the buffet were fine. Staff very friendly at both restaurants. The front desk needs some improvment. While helpful at times, they needed proding to print boarding passes for our departure. We initially were told that could be later, but that would not have worked for our early morning departure. Finally, we were checked in and had boarding passes. I think they were hesitant to do this request because the computers are slow and they have to wait for the airline pages to open. We found this in Calafate and Bariloche as well. Easy walking to many locations from the hotel and 150 feet from the Recolate cemetery. A good value overall and front desk does well at calling a taxi.

Great property
Safe, clean, nicely appointed, free internet in lobby - all to be found at Ayres de Recoleta. Helpful staff who spoke good Englishand took very good care of us! Breakfast options are also good - either take the voucher that comes with room to a cute little cafe down the street or pay a delivery charge and have it brought to you. Would definitely stay there again.

Good value in trendy Recoleta area
This hotel is one half block from the famous Recoleta Cemetery where Evita is entombed. Trendy dining is nearby, with great shopping within five blocks. The staff is friendly and willing to accommodate. Wireless broadband access is an additional $7 per day. The pool is small but adequate. The gym is minimalist; breakfast at a nearby restaurant is included and very typical. Rooms are on the small side but well lit, clean and modern. Ask for a room on the back side of the hotel to avoid street noise.
