Great hotel in San Telmo district

I would like to say that the staff in the front desk was very helpful. They did offer good suggestions for what I could do during my stay. My room faced the street the noise in the morning was not that bad. The cleaning staff really kept my room nicely cleaned and in a timely manner. My only suggestion for improvement is that the restaurant staff including the bartenders should try to be more friendly and less reserved because it can be interpreted as being cold therefore, one may not want to approach them

I suggest to go to a restaurant that is about six blocks away on Defensa street. It is called "Desnivel Rest" Food is excellent and not pricey like in other neighborhoods in the city. The only downfall is that they only take cash.

Axel hotel buenos aires

This was an expensive hotel for what it offered. I left very disappointed with axel hotel, but loved buenos aires. From the moment I checked into hotel there were problems. First, the gym was supposed to be included with my package but I was told it was an extra fee. After viewing the gym facility which only consisted of minimal equipment and max weights of 10 lb dumbbells I declined to pay $120 extra for this gym. Noise was the biggest disappointment with this hotel. My room was on 2nd floor overlooking the pool. Unfortunately, the pool was under renovation mybentire week stay at the hotel. The construction noise ( banging, hammers, power tools and loud talking) began everyday at 9am until about 6pm. Sleep was impossible at this hotel. Too cold to use pool and indoor pool was extra fee. Noise in hallways from other guests and housekeeping was very loud. I complained to staff multiple times about the pool construction noise but nothing was ever done to assist me. The staff were very nice but were unable to do anything about the planned pool work during my stay. Had I known about the pool project I would never have stayed at this hotel during this time. I felt like I wasted a lot of hard earned money on this hotel.

The Progressive Option

This place is for people with open minds that are not homophobic. The breakfast was excellent the restaurant was even better, the rooms were spacious, clean and modern for Latin America. In comparison to the 4star places we have stayed in Europe, this place was up to the rating for countries outside the US. The staff was excellent and very professional. The location was very central to the shopping and transportation.

yes and nos

Hotel location is excellent, within walking distance to many city attractions. A bit noise in the early morning hours. The central AC is controlled from the reception, which is very disappointing. Breakfast is just decent, offering the same food every single day. No hair drier, coffee maker and/or iron which is average at standard hotels. Staff is the best asset of Axel Hotel.

Great hotel

Went to buenos aires from the US - staff was very friendly and helpful. Best of all they also spoke English. Good location located in San telmo & walking distance from plaza de mayo. Hotel has a very modern chic appeal. Finally, although it's listed as a homosexual hotel, it truly is heterosexual friendly - but preferably for couples I don't know about taking your kids there.

Not Too Bad

Hotel met all the basic standards although I wouldn't recommend this hotel for business travelers. It is located on a dingy street at night and highly congested during the day. It seems OK for vacation travelers, especially caters to gays but as a hetero, no bothers. Far from the tourist attractions. Clean and comfortable... The floors are polished concrete and are very cold. It took forever to warm the room up to a comfortable standard. Staff was helpful and efficient.
