Most recent user reviewsScore 1 out of 5 My review of Astor Hotel Anonymous, 2006-07-01 Stay next door at the Knickerbocker and eat at their restaurant - the Knick. The food was fantastic, and service was great. The rooms were small and badly in need of updating - cracked plaster, old in-window air conditioners. Customer services was lacking - they had only one staff person at the desk at checkout time and a line soon formed. We stayed in a room with two queen beds so clearly there were going to be at least two guests - but we were told we could only have one room key. Score 5 out of 5 Nice Hotel and Good Value Anonymous, Chicago, IL, 2006-07-01 Summerfest grounds. Restaurants. The Astor Hotel was a quaint hotel in dowtown Milwaukee. It was only around one mile to the summerfest grounds which was very convenient since this was the nature of our stay. We were able to check in early which was a big plus. The room smelled fresh and not stale. Also, another big plus was that they have their own hotel shuttle that will take you in town. This hotel is on the 'old' side and hasn't really been updated. The rooms are on the small side, but very comfortable. Would stay again. Score 5 out of 5 Great bar and restaurant Anonymous, 2006-05-01 1. It was raining all during my stay so I did not walk around much. The Midwest Airlines Center and Bradley Center are within a short drive. The Astor Hotel is an older style hotel, built in 1918, and retains classical charm in the lobby bar and restaurant. The bar include about a half-dozen high quality European and domestic beers on tap. The restaurant features very good steak and prime rib at reasonable prices. A supposedly spectacular breakfast brunch is served on Sundays but unfortunately my schedule did not permit me to partake. The room was clean and comfortable, with a good quality television. I could not get the in-room ISDN connection to my laptop to work. The business and fitness centers are there, but have minimum functionality. The former has two rather old and very slow PCs. The exercise room has a few pieces of equipment. The hotel provides a very efficient and shuttle service I would go back and recommend it to friends and family. Score 5 out of 5 Attractive location in pleasant neighborhood Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2005-09-04 It is a short walk to the park along Lake Michigan. The Astor Hotel is close to Lake Michigan and within easy walking distance of the Milwaukee Art Museum and downtown. The corner room was comfortable with a good view. The closet area was not enclosed but was in a walk-in area adjacent to the bathroom. The room rate included a complementary continental breakfast, served in a room off the very spacious lobby. I did not eat in the hotel restaurant, but there are many places to eat nearby. There is an additional charge for parking ($4 per night during my visit) in the large lot at the rear of the hotel. Score 4 out of 5 Wrong key, didn't fix lamp Anonymous, 2005-05-29 They gave us one wrong key, and we locked ourselves out of our room. They took quite a while to let us into our room, and we discovered that they hadn't fixed one of the 2 lamps we'd asked them to repair (there was not enough light by which to read). When we said there was not sufficient reading light, they gave us a large, lovely suite instead. The breakfast was so-so in the none too clean breakfast room. |
