Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Great Value christiane, Milwaukee, WI, 2006-11-19 The hotel is on the outskirts. You will need a car for everything. The room was clean and bright. Breakfast was great. Could make our own waffles. Lots of choices. The only thing I didn't care for were the dining area stools, they are awkward to sit on and I could see older people having a problem with them. I would advise the hotel management to put add written driving directions because the map is very confusing if you are not familiar with Madison. Signage pointing to the hotel along Hwy 12 would help, too. Score 5 out of 5 good value Anonymous, Cedar Rapids, IA, 2006-10-02 The hotel is just a short drive to Alliant Energy CenterWe chose this motel for its value and location. We were very satisfied with this motel compared to a national chain that we stayed at the rest of the week. Score 4 out of 5 STAFF GREAT HOTEL NOT STARR, Springfield, IL, 2006-09-18 THIS IS A GREAT PLACE TO VISIT. THERE ARE MANY BEAUTIFUL ATTRACTION IN THE AREA THAT ARE FAIRLY CLOSE, WITHIN ONE HOURS DRIVE FROM THIS HOTEL.THE HOTEL DESK STAFF WAS GREAT. THE LOCATION HOWEVER WAS NOT. THE HOTEL FACED THE CITY DUMP. THE PREVAILING WINDS MADE THIS DOWN WIND AROMA UNPLEASANT. THE EXIT WAS CONFUSING MAKING IT ALMOST CERTAIN THAT YOU PASSED THE ENTRANCE THE FIRST TIME AND TRAFFIC ON THE BELT WAY IS DANGEROUS AROUND 4-6PM WHEN MOST WOULD BE CHECKING IN. ROOMS WERE SMALL FOR THE PRICE, NO EXERCISE FACILITY, OUTSIDE POOL ONLY AND IT WAS CLOSED, NO HOT TUB. COMPUTER WAS IN THE LOBBY ALWAYS OCCUPIED BY STAFF CHILDREN PLAYING GAMES. HOUSEKEEPING TURNED THE HEAT ON HIGH WHEN CLEANING THE ROOM, WHICH GAVE US 90 DEGREE ROOM ON OUR RETURN. WE HAD TO STAY OUTSIDE FOR 30 MINUTES IN THE CAR UNTIL THE ROOM COULD COOL TO A TOLERABLE TEMPERATURE. NO TUB ONLY SHOWER. FACILITY IS OLD AND WORN AND ALTHOUGH CONVIENT ONCE THE EXIT WAS MASTERED NOT CLOSE TO OTHER THAN FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS. THIS ONE'S A NO. Score 2 out of 5 Very restrictive T, 2006-08-18 It is a peaceful location, sufficiently removed from the busy two-wheel traffic around Madison, yet close enough for daily trips to the University. The hotel was comfortable, and fairly neat, and well located. The check-in experience was, however, not encouraging.I had my credit card information taken as a security against any damages that I might incur. I, additionally had to sign a document absolving the hotel of any missing or damaged item, be it in my hotel room or within the hotel premises. At check-out, I asked that my room be checked and that it be confirmed that there were no damages. I was verbally assured that there would be no charges against my credit card since there were no damages but I was refused a written document to say so --poor reciprocation. The lady at check-out seemed bothered, offended that I asked for a written confirmation -- I left with only a verbal assurance. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels. While this one was no less in neatness, it was probably the least in customer relation. Score 2 out of 5 Always noisy David, Lubbock, TX, 2006-08-04 Drive west on the highway to the second off-ramp and you will find a fairly extensive shopping mall.I was glad to find that the non-smoking room did not smell like smoke and the location was not right next to the dump. However, I was on the first floor just down the hall from the office and it was always noisy. The hall floor had a hard surface and there was no doorway between the hall to the rooms and the area used for the breakfast. When the people in the room above me walked, I heard it. When the air conditioner turned on, it sounded like the turbo-prop plane I had to fly on to get to Madison. The best that I can say is that the location is a ten-minute drive to downtown Madison with a grocery store and a mall located on the drive in. Score 4 out of 5 Short trip Anonymous, Milwaukee, WI, 2006-08-01 Went fishing near byThe hotel and pool were great. The Cont breakfast they had in the morning was not good at all. Staff was very slow is replaceing items that ran out. Score 4 out of 5 An Economy Stay Anonymous, 2006-07-09 Golf across the HW 12-18 which we played on a previous visit. Pretty decent. We had a good night's sleep and it's all we needed. However, it is devilishly hard to get to! Make sure you get good directions from the staff by phone. Took us 3 tries! Score 5 out of 5 Turned out well Tom, Charlotte, NC, 2006-06-22 The access road is right across from the golf course entrance. The motel is on the north side of the beltway road about 3/4 mile east of the interstateDriving up to this motel worried me - we had to drive right past the city dump on a hard to find road. The breakfast area was being remodeled and was a mess. Our room was small and contained two rather uncomfortable chairs and a small open closet - no bathtub - just a shower. That being said, I would stay here again. The staff is extremely nice, the rooms are spotless and the location is very convenient to the southern part of Madison with easy access to downtown and the University via the beltway. Breakfasts were good with fresh fruit and cereal, toast and muffins. Also hard boiled eggs. Both my wife and I slept very well on the 6 nights we were there- we could not hear the nearby Interstate nor could we smell the dump even though it was nearby. There seemed to be lots of guests staying there. So - don't be put off by the appearance of this place - it is a good, convenient and inexpensive place to stay. Score 4 out of 5 Clean for the money Michelle, 2006-05-15 There is everything available within a short drive of the hotel. The room was rather small, but it was clean and the maid service was acceptable. I did miss having a bathtub in the bathroom vs. just a shower stall. But overall it wasn't a bad place to stay Score 2 out of 5 Quick Stay Anne, 2006-05-14 It is right on Hwy 12 and 18 which is very convenient for traveling around the Madison area. The bedspreads and linens were very old and dirty (stains, cigarette burns, etc...). The rest of the room was clean. Only use for a quick stay, one night, sleep and shower. |
