Superior dining at Andrew's located at the inn. The dining room offers spectacular views of the water flowing over the DePere Dam. Most recent user reviewsScore 4 out of 5 Review Anonymous No review provided by user Score 4 out of 5 Maybe some other time of year Anonymous, Los Angeles, CA The James Street Inn might seem a bit more charming if visited in the summer when the river is flowing. In the dead of winter, the experience was rather uninvolving. The only restaurant nearby (on the premises) was booked with a party so we couldn't eat there. The room smelled of stale smoke. There is positively nothing to do in the area, especially at night, so the room's faults had greater impact than if we other places to go. The staff was friendly, though. Score 5 out of 5 Nice Suite Anonymous, Milwaukee, WI We walked to the local Italian Restraurant just two blocks away, nice atmosphere. The California pizza was very good. This was a large suite with 6 large windows that faced up and down the Fox River. Plenty of places to sit; couch with (hide a bed), chair, desk with chair. Sleeping area was large with chair with ottoman, another desk with chair and Queen bed. Each room had a TV, only one HBO. The bath was very large with a whirlpool, full vanity and mirror spanning the entire wall. Hotel staff was very pleasant. Continental Breakfast was ample. We never even noticed if anyone else was on the floor or in the Inn. It was very quiet. We would definately stay there again. Room was easily 600 sq ft, with beautiful views of the Fox River and river walk, an enormous sitting area with TV full-size couch and arm chair, writing desk and chair, 2nd TV in bedroom with yet another arm chair with ottoman, large bathroom with jacuzzi, minibar, complimentary wine and cheese at the restaurant bar in the evening, as well as newspaper, continental breakfast, etc. We were thrilled, my companion was almost speechless with surprise. Location on main artery to Interstate, with a local park and recreation area, library, shopping all within 2 blocks. Score 5 out of 5 Flexible Anonymous, Milwaukee, WI, 2006-07-23 Wonderful place for dinner just across the bridge from the hotel, called Black and Tan. A bit pricey but very well done! One thing I didn't care for, was the deck of our room was on the river, and the pond scum and stagnant water was horrible looking. They could have picked up the litter and done some landscaping to detract from the water situation I thought. Score 5 out of 5 Quiet, relaxing quality. Michael, Madison, WI, 2006-06-04 The quality of rennovation from grist mill to luxury hotel is evident in every detail from fine woodwork to elegant decor. The rooms are spacious with excellent appointments, good beds and very quiet. I'll be back! Score 5 out of 5 Nice river views Anonymous, Minneapolis, MN, 2006-04-23 Just a block from a few restuarants and bars. Our room was a corner room with 2 nice views of the river. Very nice, large rooms. Well kept and clean. Great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful. I will be going back and might check out a penthouse suite this time. We had a whirlpool which was kinda small but that was our only complaint. Overall we were very impressed with the hotel and staff. Score 5 out of 5 Comfort with a nice view Anonymous, 2005-08-08 Take a walkNice room-large with a separate sitting area. Looks out on Fox River-nice view. Has park and trail next to Inn. Appreciate the provided breakfast, wine and cheese, and chocolate chip cookies. Score 5 out of 5 A fantastic find. Uma, 2005-07-17 The second I spotted the hotel from a street intersection, I felt my pulse quicken. It is a beautiful historic building that sits on top of ar river. Quaint would be an understatement. It is well-appointed, classy, courteous and extremely comfortable. The rooms were large (every hotel chain need sit up and take notice of this simple luxury) and the furnishings were beautiful without being opulent. I also loved the bathroom. |
