Most recent user reviewsScore 5 out of 5 Fun for children T, Madison, WI, 2006-10-24 The hotel is located to several dining options if one prefers not eating at the hotel.The location of the Midway Best Western in LaCrosse is easy to find and near restaurants and access to shopping. The staff was very courteous, and the facility appeared clean and very well maintained. Our pool side room was clean, quiet, and was free of any annoying chlorine smell. Our stay was on a Monday evening during the regular school year, and we were pleasantly surprised that lifeguards were on duty in the afternoon until 9pm. My 8-year old son and I enjoyed the pool area, including the spa. Continental breakfast was adequate, and the additional $3.00 charge for the hot buffet was a bargain, though the last hotel we stayed in the hot buffet breakfast was included at no additional charge. I was disappointed when staff started clearing food items before breakfast was over, though she did ask if we wanted more before she left the dining room. The beds were not that comfortable, and I missed having a microwave in the room to warm my coffee and pop popcorn. We were very pleased to obtain an extended checkout time (1-1/2 hours later)which really gave us an opportunity to enjoy our morning without rushing. Overall, it was an enjoyable stay, and I would recommend the hotel especially to parents of young children who would really enjoy the lower-level pool with fun activities that is adjacent to the spa and a deeper pool that contains a large slide and basketball hoops. Anonymous, 2006-09-14 about a 10 minute drive to the large mall and only about 5 minutes to historic downtown area.Sis & I get together at least 2-4 times a year in the LaCrosse area. We both appreciated the quietness of the room. Also enjoyed the outdoor entertainment on the deck near the river. The room was comfortable, not crowded as in other lodgings we have stayed.
