During your Seattle vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Soundbridge Seattle Symphony Music Discovery Center
Perhaps you're an accomplished musician but have always longed to conduct an orchestra, or perhaps you've never had much musical talent at all but dream of playing the cello like Yo-Yo Ma. At this fascinating little music exploration center, you can at least see what it feels like to be first chair in the string section of the symphony. Not only is there a listening bar with more than 500 classical recordings, but there are also interactive exhibits that let you play a cello, tickle the ivories, or conduct a virtual orchestra. There's an exhibit on the science of music as well.
Kubota Garden
Located in South Seattle in a working-class neighborhood not far from the shores of Lake Washington, this 20-acre Japanese-style garden was the life's work of garden designer Fujitaro Kubota. Today the gardens are a city park, and the mature landscaping and hilly setting make this the most impressive and enjoyable Japanese garden in the Seattle area. Kubota began work on this garden in 1927, and over the years built a necklace of ponds, a traditional stroll garden, and a mountainside garden complete with waterfalls. A tall, arched moon bridge is a highlight. The self-taught Kubota went on to design gardens at Seattle University and at the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. Between April and October, free tours of the gardens are offered at 10am on the fourth Saturday of the month.
Odyssey Maritime Discovery Center
Sort of an interactive promotion for modern fishing and shipping, this facility at the north end of the Seattle waterfront is aimed primarily at kids and has more than 40 hands-on exhibits highlighting Seattle's modern working waterfront and its links to the sea. Exhibits include a kid-size fishing boat, a virtual kayak trip through Puget Sound, and a live radar center that allows you to track the movement of vessels in Elliott Bay. In another exhibit, you get to use a simulated crane to practice loading a scale model of a cargo ship.

Great Value at a Low cost.

monica, San Diego, CA

The Space needle and EMP and the Seattle Science museum are about 5 mins away on foot. Pikes place market is about 10. The ferries and Chinatown are about 15 to 20 mins.

The Eighth Avenue Inn is a great hotel for your money. A friend of mine and I went to Seattle on Vacation, we chose this place because of the price, and were quite surprised to see what a great place it was for such a low cost. The room was decent, the only problem that I came across was that the shower had low water pressure, and the water didn't get as hot as I would have liked. But other then that everything was great. They have a wonderful continental breakfast, with pretty much anything you could want, coffee, tea, orange juice, bagels, muffins, bread to make toast, assorted cereals, and even hot cinnamon rolls, and breakfast didn't end until 10:30. The place was in downtown Seattle and you could pretty much walk anywhere, which we did. Overall great experience.

Outstanding Breakfast

Anonymous, Orlando, FL

The hotel is a short, brisk walk from a number of outstanding restaurants and stores.

I found the hotel comfortable and satisfactory. Where the accommodation excelled was its outstanding continental breakfast. The piping hot sweet rolls were enough to bring me back to this setting (again and again).

Very Convenient and Friendly

Anonymous, Portland, OR

The hotel was close to the Space Needle as well as the Paramount Theatre for our entertainment.

The Seattle 8th Ave Inn was very convenient to all our activities. The staff was friendly allowing early check in and late check out.

family friendly

Anonymous, Indianapolis, IN, 2007-03-06

The downtown is just a few blocks from the hotel.

The eighth Ave Inn was somewhat comfortable, the room seemed clean and large with a desk area and a table. and it's very near from Downtown. But there is one thing-- The noise can be heard at night.

OK for Family

Fred, Long Beach, CA, 2007-02-15

Good if you have to be in the harbor area.

The Eighth Ave. INN is located pretty good and has it's own parking lot (Costs $ 5/Night). They have Wireless internet which is good enough. The rooms are not so nice to stay in concerning cleanness the shower is outdated and does not feel comfortable. The price was a little on the high side.

A place to sleep with WiFi

Rolland, Denver, CO, 2007-02-02

There is a large Whole Foods Market, with a great take away section, only 1 block across the parking lot. Access to I-5 and the Experiance Museum is easy.

Adequate service, 6:30am light breakfast, morning newspaper, extra to park your car on site, and WiFi. Good location for downtown and highway access.

Good for the money

Francisco, 2006-11-22

Close to downtown, Seattle Tower and Ferries area.

This is the kind of hotel one would love to have anywhere, when all you want is a quiet, clean, appealing place to sleep and rest. After spending all day out in the city, it was nice to come back to a room like home.

Very good area

j.todd, 2006-11-02

There is a cafe next door that serves food at all hours, and has a bar as well. On nights I didn't want to go the extra several blocks, I could enjoy a leisurely beverage and a good meal when it was convenient for me!

The Eighth Ave. Inn is in a great location, within walking distance from many hot spots including the space needle and many other must see" sites. The room was comfortable and well maintained, with liquid soap, shampoo and body wash in the shower, a pleasant surprise. WIFI was available for a nominal fee, so my business and personal mail were accesible to my laptop computer from my room. I was able to set up a mini office on a provided table and relax in one of two comfortable chairs. I had little interaction with hotel staff, but those I did were hospitable and friendly, never intrusive. I also enjoyed the complimentary newspaper on the door each morning."

Friendly Faces and Hot Cinnamon Buns

Jeffrey, Philadelphia, PA, 2006-07-30

You wake up, look out the front window, and BOOYAH!!! The Space Needle is in your face.

The Eight Ave Inn in downtown Seattle was awesome...only a few blocks away from shopping and a stones throw from the Space Needle!!! The free continental breakfast was a bonus with their hot cinnamon buns and orange juice machine...The staff was amazing, mostly young kids, but very helpful...This is a great hotel for young-mid 20 year olds!!! If there was a pool I'd give it a 10, but it'll have to be a 9.5 from me, haha....I recommend the Eight Ave Inn.
