During your Seattle vacation, don't miss these great establishments and attractions:
Center for Wooden Boats
This unusual little museum, located adjacent to the Northwest Seaport/Maritime Heritage Center, is basically a collection of wooden boats of all kinds. Most of the boats are tied up to the docks surrounding the museum's floating boathouse, but some are stored in dry dock (on the dock itself). Dedicated to the preservation of historic wooden boats, the center is unique in that many exhibits can be rented and taken out on the waters of Lake Union. There are both rowboats and sailboats; rates range from $13 to $46 per hour (call for hours of availability). Free classic boat rides are held on Sunday from 2 to 3pm, and individual sailing instruction is also available.
Experience Music Project (EMP)
The brainchild of Microsoft cofounder Paul Allen and designed by architect Frank Gehry, who is known for pushing the envelope of architectural design, this rock 'n' roll museum is a massive multicolored blob at the foot of the Space Needle. Originally planned as a memorial to Seattle native Jimi Hendrix, the museum grew to encompass not only Hendrix, but all of the Northwest rock scene (from "Louie Louie" to grunge) and the general history of American popular music. The most popular exhibits here (after the Jimi Hendrix room) are the interactive rooms. In one room you can play guitars, drums, keyboards, or even DJ turntables. In another, you can experience what it's like to be onstage performing in front of adoring fans. Another exhibit focuses on the history of guitars and includes some of the first electric guitars, which date from the early 1930s.Regularly scheduled concerts are held in the museum's main hall, known as the Sky Church. To help you get the most out of your visit (and at $20 per ticket, you certainly expect plenty), every visitor is issued a Museum Exhibit Guide (MEG), a hand-held electronic player filled with recorded audio clips explaining the various exhibits. Give yourself plenty of time to explore this unusual museum.
Seattle Asian Art Museum
Housed in a renovated Art Deco building in Volunteer Park, the Asian art collection places an emphasis on Chinese and Japanese art, but also includes works from Korea, Southeast Asia, South Asia, and the Himalayas. Among the museum's most notable pieces are the Chinese terra-cotta funerary art, Chinese snuff bottles, and Japanese netsukes (belt decorations). One room is devoted to Japanese ceramics, while three rooms are devoted to Chinese ceramics. The central hall contains stone religious sculptures of South Asia (primarily India). The museums hosts frequent lectures and concerts.

One Night Stay

Cathy, Nashville, TN, 2006-11-19

I just needed a place to stay overnight, i was just passing through, i walked into my room at La Quinta, very clean, I was comfortable, which was important to me. Close to the airport, was very important to me also.I wanted to sleep as long as I could without having to worry about how long it would take me to get back to the airport, less then 5 min drive back to the airport. Extremely satisified, I would definitely stay there again.

Shuttle starts at 5am so if you have a 6am flight, get a taxi

Decent hotel, not too expensive, close to airport. Does the job.

Excellant Location

Matthew, San Diego, CA, 2006-04-18

Dennys, a 50's diner, gas stations, 7-eleven

There are alot of places to eat around the hotel which is about a 3 minute drive including the lights. THe staff was very friendly and helpful. There seemed to be alot of wear patches where the carpet was worn out and they replaced it with newer carpet reminants. They said high speed internet was avaliable and it was , only if you had broadband connecter.....so that was alittle upsetting. Overall....I would recommend it due to the location!

Nice, clean, comfortable

Charles, 2006-04-15

There's a lake and park just accross the street within walking distance. Lots of fast food outlets in the neighborhood. The hotel is not far from I-5 and easy to fine.

I chose this hotel for its reasonable price. I would like to stay again because I have daughter and grandaughter in the area and I'm sure she would like to use the pool. I thought the rooms were nice and clean, bright and the bathrooms looked like they were recently remodeled and in nice condition. The feature of the elaborate breakfast oportunity was really great too.

The location near the airport was perfect, the room was quiet. I regret that there is nothing available to eat before one leaves for a 6 am flight.

If you need a something that you can't get at the airport or convenience store, there is a Fred Meyers just a couple of miles down International Blvd. south (highway 99).

Easy to airport; wireless internet; fitness facility; breakfast; good staff; easy to shopping south; good experience

Clean, spacious room

William, Atlanta, GA, 2005-09-18

24 hour restaurant just across the parking lot. Family friendly.

We were very pleased with the overall apprearance of the hotel, the cleanliness and the spacious room. It included all of the amenities, including coffee maker, and ice and soft drinks were just down the hall. We were picked up from the airport and returned to catch our departing flight. We were directed to a van that came by the hotel and took us down to the market area and back. Both of these conveniences enabled us to avoid a costly rental car for our short trip. The complementary breakfast was adequate and tasty. Overall, a pleasant experience.
